I had to go through a very nasty custody battle this past fall and everyone from the receptionists, to the paralegals, to my lawyer (Bridget Finn) were incredibly kind and knowledgeable. Bridget was honest with me from the start and we had a great outcome to our case. I highly recommend Divorce Matters to anyone who is going through family legal issues!

Will Taylor helped me with several legal issues that were not addressed by my previous attorney during my divorce 4 years ago. I never thought that 4 year after the final decree that I would still be trying to get my x off my property.
Will reviewed my legal issues and filed the needed documents very quickly to resolve all of my property issues. He is knowledgeable, compassionate and very easy to work with.

Avoid this law firm at all costs! Their Mission states they want to be the premier family law firm in the Denver metro area by providing an exceptional client experience. However my experience was more along the lines of poor not exceptional. I'll give 4 different reasons why I felt it was a such a poor experience 1) I had three different lawyers within the first four months of being with them and each time felt like I was just being passed off. 2) They would send me divorce documents that were not even related to my case (makes me wonder who was getting mine). 3) I had found several billing issues when reviewing my statements and then had to chase those down though their billing department. 4) And probably the most important to me......was the overall lack of support and empathy during a difficult time in my life. So I'll make the statement again. Avoid this law firm at all costs!

I had reached the end of my divorce process and up until the time I retained David as my lawyer, my soon to be ex husband and I thought we could do this on our own.

We were both under the impression a lawyer would make things contentious. However just days before our final hearing, I felt that I had made a mistake by not retaining counsel.

David graciously took my case at the last minute and took the mounting stress off my shoulders.

He helped to draw up a better parenting plan than we had created. His plan helped to eliminate the gray areas we had in our self prepared documents. He also helped establish a fair financial agreement.

While in the future I hope that I wouldn’t need his services again, I wouldn’t hesitate to call him or recommend him to family and friends.

Ashley Balicki represented me in my recent divorce and could not have offered a better service. Her advice and counsel was very helpful while dealing with this less than desirable situation. She also did what she could to help mitigate costs for me as much as possible. I highly recommend the counsel from Thomas and Associates Law Firm.

Had a straight forward simple case with no children and no side businesses. Cost me about $20,000 to get a divorce with this team--Bridget Finn specifically--and all they produced was a 50/50 (barely) division of assets, several errors in my ex's favor (not getting me any of his $100K bonus, letting him write several thousand dollar checks from our join account for personal property while married), and couldn't succeed in getting my legal fees covered. I am a full-time employed female who also ran the household and my ex is an attorney who hired the Madrid Lawfirm. They estimated I could get $10K a month in spousal support in our meetings, yet the court ruled I would receive none. I would not recommend this law firm to anyone looking to get divorced. They grossly over estimate their abilities and grossly over bill for their services.

Bridget and her associates were wonderful advocates for me when I found myself in need of an attorney. I am grateful for all of their hard work. I walked away very pleased with the results.

Bridgette Finn is the worst. There are many attorneys out there; do not use her. She is extremely unprofessional from the emails she sends, to the way she speaks, and even her appreance in court. She is a greedy person and will do all she can to take your money, and make your divorce more complicated and combative than it needs to be. She will make your divorce combative so she can charge you more. In a time that you need someone to help you through a difficult time, she adds stress and a very dark side of greed.

No one plans on a divorce. As someone in the legal industry I knew I was going to use Divorce Matters and was happy that Bridget Finn would be representing me. She is understanding honest and a pleasure to work with. She never pushed me into anything and truly took the time to understand what was important to me. If you have to go through the end of a relationship I would say to contact Bridget!

David did a good job, he understand what my situation were and try to help me out, while try a way to save money. A case is hard to win because dealing with divorce where one side is all about money and listen to bad influence from family and friends try to separate myself from my kids. David know and understand but is hard for him to do anything when law about divorce limit him to what he can do or present to the judge. If you need a lawyer David could lead you there, but he won’t make any promise because laws, and judge will not listen to you is all about ego of the judge and laws. In the end God will lead me and God know everything. Thank you for your time, if I need something I know who to look for.

In my search for a lawyer, Mr. Smith was bay far the most dependable.

I did not have a good experience with this firm. I had a relatively simple issue that the firm handled without any concern for my goals and did the absolute minimum to ‘check the boxes’, and charged me obscene amounts of money as well.

I was smart enough to get rid of them immediately after my mediation. Their admin staff was a complete waste of money. I
ended up paying another attorney 1/2 the amount of money for preparing for 5 months of preparations for and represention at my hearing than Thomas & Asssociates charged me for the couple months preceding a useless mediation session.

When I appealed to he firm’s leadership and described the overcharging and lousy representation, they gave me little consideration and simply declared that charges for legal services were logged and to ‘pay-up’.

Unless you have a complex divorce issue, I strongly advise you avoid this firm.

I have worked with Will on and off for about 5 years regarding a divorce and child custody case. Will has always been reliable, concise, informative, and most of all, patient. I worked with Divorce Matters to create a prenuptial agreement. They have a very friendly and professional staff. My overall experience was good. I'm submitting a 3/5 review for a few reasons. When I called to schedule my appointment, I was told by a front desk staff member that the attorneys charge a lump sum rather than by the hour. This was one of the reasons I decided to schedule an initial consultation (which I was charged for). Upon my initial meeting with my attorney, Mr. David Kalisek, I was informed that he would charge by the hour, not a lump sum. The inconsistency was displeasing so I do think their office needs to work to ensure there's no confusion with that matter. David worked to get me exactly what I needed in a short time frame. The only disappointing factor was his hourly rate (over $300) which is quite high for what I needed. Good experience with the company but not great.

Ashley was compassionate, professional and easy to reach with any questions or concerns.

Do not waste your money if you are the father in this case. We hired a lawyer that was supposed to help us. He wasted all the money charging us $350+ an hour to redo the paperwork he did wrong multiple times. He didn’t even make it to the first court date. He was extremely unprofessional and seemed very uneducated. We also reached out to the owner who refused to return our call. From the time we hired him he would do what the mother wanted to do despite being hired to represent the father. In the long run we are out thousands of dollars and still had to do everything ourselves.

Divorce matters was highly recommended to me by someone in my office who had a great experience. I was introduced to Will Smith and I found him to be very approachable and understanding.
Will is a tough attorney that helped me successfully defend against the underhanded tactics employed by my wife’s less than reputable attorney. Will helped me settle for over $600k less than their asking amount for alimony/maintenance (her attorney was asking for over 5.5 x my initial offer and we settled at 1.4 x that initial offer - a settlement that in the end I believe was fair for all parties).
Will also successfully helped me defend against over $65k in over valuations, misrepresentations or “errors and omissions” by my wife’s attorney in the asset allocations which represented another potential $32.5 loss to me. Lastly, Will protected me against being disproportionately impacted due to market fluctuations at the end of 2018 before the division of assets / allocation of the QDRO was completed and that saved me another $10k.
From the dollar values above you can tell that my hiring Divorce Matters saved me well beyond the cost of their fees.
It was not my choice to get divorced. Nor was it my choice the “lawyer up” during the process. However, when I had to make my choice to select someone to help me defend against my wife’s attorney, I am glad that I chose Divorce Matters and specifically Will Smith.
Although I was not feeling amicable during the divorce process, Will encouraged me not to go “low” and to maintain the high road throughout. This helped me save me from my own emotions and keep the big picture in mind.
Taking the high road was a big part of helping me come through the process with a healthy attitude. While successfully defending myself, I was also able to look at myself in the mirror and to be able to sleep at night (both during and after the divorce process). I worked with David, my divorce was made difficult because of my now ex. David did his best to calm apposing council and get the back on track. They finally settled the day of the hearing, David was a big part of getting that done. I kept my house and do not have to pay alamony. I guess that is really the best case scenario.

Only downside to working with this firm is the billing department, I don't know what software they are using but it needs to be updated, QuickBooks would solve 85% of their issues.

Every single step of the way, Will was most interested in handling this case in the most cost-effective way possible. As I beat my head against the wall and thought we should just go to trial, Will was instrumental in talking me down, and moving towards our eventual resolution without trial. He wanted to save me money in the long run, by settling up. I'll never forget his words of wisdom "you can send your kids to college or my kids to college."

I'm not sure how to rate, since I have not been a client. However, my consultation was about 15-18 minutes long, I felt rushed, and was even more confused when we were done. I think it's important to feel the attorney you're working with is on the same page and understands you. Which I did not feel so during the consultation. She did make a point that the retainer fee is $4000 and said if I wish to retain her, someone will draft my fee agreement. Their website, helped me feel at ease when it talked about the stress of hiring an attorney, the cost and fees. However, I wasn't given a chance to elaborate on much and felt a lack of compassion and understanding from her. Perhaps she had other appointments, and is probably a really great attorney, but I will most likely not be requesting their assistance.

My experience was strong and supportive! We all go through tough times and this was one of those times for me. I didn't know who or where to turn to. My attorney and the whole practice guided through the process and helped bring me to the best outcome. All I can say is "thank you"!

I can't say anything good about the billing department . Working with Alexis was a complete disaster and nightmare. Ask to work with ANYONE else. HOWEVER........I absolutely loved having Denise Gonzales as my lawyer and highly recommend her, along with her assistant Brandy. Denise blew the other lawyer right out of the water. Her knowledge and experience with family law (specifically child custody) surpasses any other lawyers I have had to work with. Brandy returned all calls and emails within a hour at the most and was adamant that I fully understood everything that was happening pertaining to my case. They both made a very difficult time in my life a lot easier!
