I reported Bill and Tamma to the Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel in Jefferson City, and they were both sent Guidance letters. Non-refundable retainers are not recognized in Missouri, except in limited circumstances, and yet Bill used one on me, deceiving me into believing that none of my retainer was refundable. I also believe they overcharged me for the little work that they did in my case, so I filed a complaint with Missouri Bar Fee Dispute Resolutions. They charged me 3000.00(they thought they were doing me a favor by refunding a measly 250.00 of it) which I feel is an unreasonable fee for the amount of work they did, considering I hadn't even been charged, not to mention their itemization of charges ran up to almost 4000.00 when they chose to close the case. I was not told that the charges reached that high until after they had run up the additional charges. 1000.00 of my retainer was spent in conversations between the firm and myself, which I find ridiculous. According to the firm, "no news from the firm is good news" pertaining to my case, so there really was no reason for them to contact me unless there was something negative to report. A good majority of the time spent on the phone with Tamma involved neighborly chit chat conversations about topics not related to my case as I was unknowingly being charged for them, which I consider misuse of funds. They had repeatedly contacted prosecution to the point that the prosecutor's office asked Tamma why she was repeatedly calling them. I had indicated in an email to Tamma that I felt it wasn't a good idea that she repeatedly call prosecution, possibly ticking them off and raising a red flag to my name, but I feel the Byrnes law firm needed an excuse to use up my retainer, so I believe the calls were made for that reason despite my request. An attorney I met with from another firm prior to retaining Byrnes told me flat out I wasn't going to be charged and refused to take my credit card which I offered for him to have on file should something come up. I should have listened to him rather than flush my money away on a greedy attorney named Bill Byrnes, who I believe took advantage of my emotional state of paranoia as I feared the worst happening. Another attorney indicated that I should have received a good chunk of my retainer back as he felt that the amount of work performed at Byrnes didn't justify what I paid. In fact, I received a phone call from the Region Special Rep of the Disciplinary Committee under the authority of the Missouri Supreme Court, Office of Chief Disciplinary Counsel, and he even said I got the short end of the stick, that he felt for me, and that I should have received a majority of my retainer back and suggested that I sue the firm. Tamma told me that I did the right thing in hiring the firm ahead of time, rather than waiting to possibly be charged. I'm sure she or Bill would say that, thinking how nice a flight to Miami to catch a Caribbean cruise with my paycheck would be. However, after handing over my credit card, Bill suggested that I walk into the police station(which was the last place I wanted to go) and obtain a copy of my police report--sounds like a lazy attorney in which the client pays, and the client has to do Bill's tasks for him. No, Tamma--my advice to the public is to wait until after you're charged and apply for a public defender. I've done volunteer work for two and know of a third who graduated in the top of her class, and she did a darn good job for an acquaintance of mine--better than the Byrnes firm could have done in my opinion. I should also mention that cry-baby Bill sent the police to my home to advise me to stay off his firm's property out of retaliation to the OCDC complaint I filed. Needless to say I DO NOT recommend using this firm. On a side note, I received a settlement months later from another company which outweighed the money flushed into this useless firm, and I felt it was God watching my back, paying me back for my loss.

Everyone at the law firm was great to work with and the outcomes were easy to understand. Even after my case closed they are willing to help with any follow up questions or letters.

Would not recommend for any matter consisting of family court. I hired Bill to work on a child support case and he didnt do a thing. My child support continued to be charged after my son turned 18 and continued until he was 21. Now I will need to hire another attorney to do what I hired this law firm to do in the first place. When I have tried to contact Bill I do not get return phone calls or emails. Horrible at delivering what he was hired and paid to do. Now I have back support that is ruining my credit that is not truly owed. As all of the support due was from after the child turned 18 and had already moved out. I have actually overpaid and now I have to extend filing taxes so they are not garnished for a debt that is not owed. The poor decision of hiring Bill Byrnes is still effecting my life today. So I basically paid Bill $750 for nothing. Hope this review stops anyone else from using his services and paying good money for horrible service.

I absolutely understand why he has 4.8 rating. The whole Lawfirm is full of good people. One of them in particular, Mr. Bill Byrnes is very professional. He helped me with all of my counsel needs and he always made sure everything was crystal clear. He went out of the way to help me. I would definitely recommend Byrnes to anyone that needs help with legal counsel.

I hired Me Burned over a month ago.....I've called for him, left messages and I still have NEVER spoken with him directly. Reaching someone in the office is a 50/50 chance. You'd think you would at least get to speak to your actually attorney once .
