The most unethical law firm in town. The worst with high profile high profile clients and clients in general! Watch out for double billing, the firm likes ripping off the customer. Don't ever take a lawyers word even if there defending your best interest, this law firm looks at you as a sleazy used car salesman. If you don't say anything about it you will get took. If your looking for the below average lawyer this is your stop. There are far better lawyers in Utah than to spend thousands and figure out your being ripped off. I would have to agree with "Amy Durfee" comment if I could do it over I would of not stopped here. Its bad enough being in a tough position let alone having a lawyer with bad integrity. You have to think with 17yrs in the business yet less than 5 reviews, what does that tell you?

If NO or NEGATIVE stars could be left, I would. As a former flat fee limited scope Client of Mr. Pace and Pace Law Firm, Mr. Pace never had me execute a binding and enforceable retainer or limited scope services agreement. First, around May-Jun of '13, my marriage was coming to an end. We had separated and things were proceeding quickly. I consulted with Mr. Pace, on or around Jun of '13, and we agreed to a Flat Fee Limited Scope Representation for a total of $900, plus costs (for a grand total of $1,450), as I could not afford to retain him fully.
From Jun to Sep of '13, I had paid numerous cash payments to Mr. Pace. During this period, the divorce case had been set for settlement conference to be held in 09/2013. Before Mr. Pace would attend with me, I had to pay the remaining $500 he alleged was due, plus costs. I did and he attended the Sep of '13 Settlement Mediation Conference with me. It lasted 4hours and resulted in a written Marital Settlement Agreement (MSA), that was prepared by the Mediator. After that, Mr. Pace's limited scope representation was complete.
As with all domestic relations, my ex-spouse made false allegations, and Mr. Pace wanted a large retainer, but I chose a different criminal lawyer for that in Utah. I prevailed after I spent $8,000.
During this time, my ex-spouse refused to pay per the MSA, and I contacted Mr. Pace. He then wanted a percentage of the equalization payment that was to be paid by her, and I declined to proceed with him. Shortly thereafter, I prepared and filed in proper person, my Motion to Enforce and for an Order to Show Cause against my ex-spouse with the Utah Domestic Court.
In early-mid '14, Mr. Pace discovered that I was going to receive a lump-sum payment, and contacted me for “his share”. I was a confused by what he meant, but Mr. Pace alleged that 1 of my checks had not cleared for $500, out of the $900 flat fee + costs of $550 charged, and he wanted it paid. I told him, that if he had an unpaid check for $500 from me, the account was open and he could redeposit it to be paid the final monies alleged to be due. It was confirmed and agreed, that this purported $500 was the remaining monies alleged that I owed Mr. Pace. As such, I requested a Final Closing Statement and Receipt reflecting such. In turn, Mr. Pace sent an iMessage, that when the "check clears its paid". Mr. Pace submitted to my bank an electronic ACH for $500, that was honored and paid. For almost 2years I heard nothing from Mr. Pace thereafter.
However, Mr. Pace had remorse and after almost 2years, Pace Law Firm engaged in acts that represent the epitome of corruption. Mr. Pace created fraudulent billing and questionable trust accounting, (which Mr. Pace never sent me any notice by US Postal mail, Electronic communication by E-Mail, or verbally communicated with me), that alleged I owed him $1,009, without accounting for and crediting the $1,450 in payments that I had paid to Mr. Pace. Mr. Pace then proceeded to surreptitiously instructed this Collection Agency to immediately report 2 fraudulent and fabricated accounts, each with an overdue and outstanding balance of $1,009 to all 3 of my credit bureaus, which has adversely affected my credit scores. This was done without any type of notice or demand to be “paid” ever received by me that was sent by him, Pace Law Firm, or even the Collection Company. On top of this, Mr. Pace never obtained my consent, for him, to have the right to assign a “paid off” accounts as “not paid off” and “delinquent” to a Collection Agency, in an effort to extort additional monies out of me for work he DID NOT perform, and no additional out of pocket costs were incurred or due to be paid to him. This was all in spite of the fact, THAT I HAD PAID HIM, IN FULL, ALMOST $1,450 FOR 1 SETTLEMENT CONFERENCE THAT LASTED FOR 4 HOURS AND SETTLED. HE DID NOTHING ELSE AFTER THAT, AND WAS ANGRY I WOULDN'T HIRE HIM AGAIN.

I sent an email to Mr. Pace in the late afternoon in regards to an unjust landlord.  In the middle of dinner as we were talking about giving in to the landlord just to get away from him Mr. Pace called. The simple fact that he didn’t end his day before calling speaks volumes to his character. I cannot express the weight that was lifted by his simple act of kindness. Thank you Mr. Pace

Mr. Pace represented Me in a Divorce Mediation, and I was impressed by his ability to both see, and explain to Me, how choices could affect me not only right now, but in the future as well. I felt confident, secure, and pleased with his representation. Very Professional and Personable, and I highly recommend his services.

Horrible I gave them over 10000 dollars and they still sued me for more for one court appearance that lasted 15 minutes

David Pace has given me solid legal advice in several areas. Thanks to him, I've saved thousands of dollars in court expenses and attorney fees instead of wasting my time and money with a less competent attorney. He has a practical, no-nonsense manner that helps him cut through to the facts of a matter, which makes him an excellent resource for those who might be overwhelmed with the emotions surrounding their legal issues. I highly recommend David Pace.

Without going into too much detail I thought my case was in the bag and got a lot of reassurance from my last attorney but when the temporary order was ruled in favor of my soon to be ex I was told to "Settle for what they are offering because you will not win this case". I was so frustrated and thought that I would not see my daughter again. Her mom moved her to CA and refused to let me see her. After some negotiating I managed to arrange a visit to see her and made the trip down but was served with a restraining order. Not believing my luck I scheduled a consultation with David I was not going to let the last attorney ruin my relationship with my daughter. When I scheduled the meeting with David there was less than a week to prepare for a hearing. When I showed up I noticed some major differences between his office and my last lawyer's office. They were nicer and in less of a rush. I walked into David's office and was worried at first, it looked like he was overworked and might let details slip through the cracks but once I started talking to him he did something that none of the other lawyers did. He formulated a strategy and told me we simply need to wait this out the law will manage to work itself out. There was something about him that relaxed me and I for the first time trusted a lawyer! Each and every time we went to court we gained some ground and when I got a response that upset me he had the ability to say "relax I'll take care of it". Do you know how awesome it is to be able to unload the stress and burden of a divorce onto someone who will work day and night to make sure everything works out for the best? Well it's great!!! After a long wait I finally got to go down to CA and see my daughter again and he was waiting with his hand over the phone on a holiday weekend waiting to help me out on the off chance things went south. Everything worked out great and we continued to move the case into a fair direction and finally we were able to settle on a 50/50 with the possibility of her coming to school here in Utah with her sister. David never stopped working, never counted the pennies until the retainer was out and he never once complained when I couldn't pay as much this paycheck as I did on the last one! There is positive and open communication with my ex and I get to see my daughter 6 months a year, talk to her when I want to and I owe it all to David he changed my life!! If you need help with your divorce and need someone who will tell you the truth, be fair with you and when needed calm you down, then you need The Pace Law Firm!! I fully recommend them to everyone!
