I was already divorced but not receiving child support , alimony or anything allowed in my divorce decree. I hired michael Anderson. After a year of nothing but over charging and maxing out my credit cards we finally made it to court. My ex was instructed by the judge to start paying child support, alimony and abide by the divorce decree.. The judge signed an order stating I could remove my things from my home before it was lost in a foreclosure sale. My ex would not allow me in my home and he called a cop. The Price City police officer would not allow me to retrieve my things so, for the next week and a half I called Michael Anderson everyday with no response except the Bill's from his office kept coming in. This story only gets worse. 3 years after my divorce with no alimony, child support, lost 1/2 equity in a 500,000 dollar home, michael Anderson stated the judge ordered a mediation. I questioned why but my daughter and I was struggling to get by and hoping Michael Anderson would fight for us.( nope) lost everything but child support when he decided to pay. I was awarded 14,000 in Attorneys fees that I paid to michael Anderson. My ex sends the money to Michael Anderson.to be given to my daughter and i but I haven't seen a dime. I was paid in full to this man with a letter from his office stating I owed and would never owe them any monies on this case and that I was paid in full. Michael Anderson went into the Duchesne County court house and requested I pay him 17,000 more. You see, my mother passed away and with a mortgage I was paying on her home and Michael Anderson now a realistate broker , educated in gas, oil and mining in carbon county where I live. I guess he could lein or force a sale of her home. The last bill I received from Michael Anderson was in the amount of 23,000 . I rented out her home through a property manager. After a total remodel due to the flood in Helper 2014. Hired a property manager but after 3 months of no rent, I went to the home to find 8 adult and 10 children all illegal immigrants and my home was distroyed. Michael Anderson was just starting to handle my case with my ex so I ask if he could help with this property manager law suit. Again, over billing along with retainer fees. 2 years later court is in Price, Utah at 9:00. Judge starts the proceedings even though my attorney isn't there. Michael Anderson is 55 minutes late and I only got an hour. With no evidence in hand like the 18 inch thick binder I gave to Michael Anderson' my Attorney and Bridge Reality/ Brenda Quicks Attorney binders compiled of pictures, contracts, and damages. After thousands of dollars maxing out credit cards, Michael Anderson gave his 5 minutes to the judge. Judge Thomas decided the property manager/ Brenda Quick had done her job and awarded Brenda Quick and her attorney fees and a settlement eventhough she didn't collect first or last months rent or a deposit. 22,000 was what they stated in the letter for settlement. Funny just how crooked these realistate brokers are getting. Collecting lots of 5 stars from your friends but can you give legal advice or portray yourself as an attorney when your a JD? That does mean you went to law school but haven't passed the bar. Very underhanded business practices

Mike Anderson was that proverbial light at the end of the tunnel for me. This review summarizes my experiences with Ascent Law, good and bad. Before delving into that, it is important to stress that overall I am pleased with the services they provided. With Ascent Law's assistance, I am free of a certain toxic, negative and deceitful influence. This has dramatically improved my well-being, and my financial status remains undamaged. I am immensely grateful to the firm for their assistance in this.

Everyone I worked with during my lawsuit was friendly. The lawyers and staff always make me feel welcome - in fact, because of this I typically insist on coming into the firm for meetings rather than phone calls.

When I first met with Jeremy Eveland, he explained my options and the cost of the retainer. I was assured that I had a good case, so we moved forward with it. In the next phase of my lawsuit, some of Jeremy's recommended filings proved fruitless and resulted in additional, unnecessary expenses. Because of this I made a choice against another of Jeremy's suggestions later on. He did not explain possible consequences of this, which resulted in misunderstanding the defendant's case prior to trial.

I was not made aware that the retainer was an initial payment. It was a complete surprise to receive a bill for services beyond the retainer midway through the case, and I was shocked at the billing rate. I approached the financial staff about it, but they were unwilling to budge on the total even though I had never been advised on the hourly cost.

Regardless, I paid my current bill in total, dipping into a 401k in order to do so. After paying it, I was advised that the firm's billing system had not been charging me the correct amount. My real bill was almost double! Had I known the rate at which the costs had accumulated, I would have made some different choices during the case.

Just weeks prior to the court date, Jeremy assigned my case to another lawyer, Michael Anderson. Mike is quite amiable, and we get along well. I greatly enjoyed working with him. Unfortunately, when we went to trial it did not go as well as we had expected. While Mike did the best he could, as he hadn't fielded the case from the start there may have been subtleties which he did not quite grasp. We failed to summon a key witness to corroborate much of my side. Our strategy resulted in agreeing to amend a portion of the agreement central to the lawsuit. Between that and a bad ruling from the judge in an otherwise well-settled area of law, this resulted in awarding me an unfairly lesser sum from the initial agreement.

After suffering this loss, I've been working on paying off a sizable bill from the firm. During the case and for over a year afterward, I was frequently billed extra - interest the firm charges despite an agreement we have with regards to how much I pay each month. I'm always assured that this is erroneous; however, it was lost on me as to why I must always follow up to ensure proper totals. Additionally, several months ago I was called by a member of the financial staff and told quite rudely that the amount I had been paying was insufficient and that they need more per month. Between these two issues, it felt very much like harassment.

Recently, I approached Jeremy again with the concerns I have expressed above regarding the billing during the course of my case. He expressed understanding and sympathy, and had his financial staff ensure that the amounts I had been billed were fair and only for billable work. Mike later called and advised that he has taken ownership of the firm, and we have worked out a new, much more manageable total for my bill.

Sometimes lawsuits don't go the way you expect. It happens. Overall, the assistance provided by Ascent Law is of lasting benefit to me, and I am delighted to continue to employ their services.

So I was stupid. I was going through life when I found out my wife was cheating on me. I didn’t know what to do or where to go.
