I called the Rothkoff Group Law firm on Friday 12/13/19 requesting to speak with an Elder attorney regarding our family property rights to our fathers property housed in his girlfriends’ home. I spoke with Amanda. She told me a “ Client Service Director” named Jacinda Graham would call me back right away to direct me to the correct attorney in their group who could assist me. When I received no return call I again called on Monday 12/16/19 and spoke with Amanda again who told me Jacinda got the message, and reiterated she would call me back(which she never did). I am an out of state physician trying to get a simple estate question answered, and have instead gotten the run around and apparently a cold shoulder. If one person has had this experience, there are likely 99 others who have had a similar experience. Stay away from this firm, as apparently they don’t need the business.

When my wife first met with Jerry Rothkoff and his staff over 4 years ago, we were very comfortable immediately with the kind of totally integrated services that the firm provides including the coordination of selecting the best care facilities in the area to accommodate my wife's mother's needs. I had an amazing experience recently with Rothkoff Law Firm. The Lawyers really helped me navigate the process of helping my parents with their Will and with their case managers, they also provided great support as my folks' needs are increasingly becoming more complicated .

From my initial dealings with this firm and Jerry Rothkoff himself I would not recommend them to anyone. First I was quoted a consultation fee for an hour with Jerry Rothkoff, then Nicole called me to say that it would be half that price for the hour. When I spoke with Jerry for the consultation he spent a lot of time berating me for hiring the wrong elder law attorney that got us into the mess we were in. What's the point in that when that's already done and we're looking to rectify it? He should have been spending the time constructively giving me specific legal advice regarding our situation, of which he had the details. To boot, he spent only 30 minutes with me on the phone, and I never received a refund of the other half of the consultation fee that I paid for but went undelivered by Rothkoff. There are so many qualified attorneys whom I've had the pleasure of speaking with since my discussion with Rothkoff and I can say I'm glad I didn't hire him for anything.

It's a comfort to know that you have a professional and experienced team on your side. Everyone is kind and responsive.

My relationship with the Rothkoff Law Group has been, literally, life changing. After 5 years caring for two ailing parents, I found myself with both Mom and Dad in a short term care facility after lengthy stays in two different hospitals. They were both in need of long term care, and their insurance coverage for rehablitation was running out. To say I was overwhelmed is an understatement, and the stress and time demands were beginning to have an adverse effect on my mental and physical health. After my first meeting with Bryan Adler and the rest of the Rothkoff team, that all changed.

Bryan addressed the immediate problem of my parents continued care in rehab while we searched for the best possible long term care facility for them. He explained the Medicaid eligibility requirements in a way I could understand, and laid out a blueprint to address the application process, which is daunting to say the least. Jerold Rothkoff is a sponge. Don't hire this arrogant shyster - you might as well give each family member a $12,000.00 gift and simply spend down the rest of the estate and submit the application to your local welfare office for Medicaid approval and hope that your elderly mother or father gets approved. THIS IS NOT AN EXAGGERATION.

Rothkoff is supposed to provide asset protection for the heirs to the estate but won't communicate to any sibling whom he is supposed to be protecting inheritances for. His stock answer to a family member named in the will of the Medicaid applicant and authorized to discuss affairs and provide information to is this: "I am obligated release information to only, not to contract, terminate or engage any services." Mr. Rothkoff does not care whom he is contracted to provide asset protection to once the family member signs on the dotted line. Why? Because he will line his pockets with as many fees as possible from the estate of the Medicaid applicant. People who think that they got great service from him are totally unaware of what this sponge does because of the complicated process for Medicaid approval.

This sponge charges $225.00-an-hour for a single phone call, $300.00-an- hour for each and every meeting, $145.00-an-hour to contact the nursing home, hospitals and any medical practitioner, $300.00-an-hour to review documents and every single email, $125.00-an-hour to contact banks and other financial institutions and $225.00-an-hour to contact the courts and welfare offices.

Ask Little Sponge Jerry for an invoice of his "services" before you write a positive review for him. Oh, and if you have written a positive review for him - ASK HIM FOR THE SAME THING - IT WILL OPEN YOUR EYES!

Do yourself a favor and contact a teaching attorney for asset protection who will handle everything for you for A FLAT FEE. Do not spend more than $8000.00 - $10,000.00 for asset protection and the Medicaid application. Arrogant Little Sponge Jerry would be out of business if more people knew this.

A teaching attorney will give you a detailed plan of action and a list of necessary documents for Medicaid approval - FOR A FLAT FEE - and do a better job than Shyster Sponge Little Jerry.

The sponge responded and lied about his fees. I can assure everyone reading that that those are the fees that he charged.

I had the worst experience when I used Mr. Rothkoff to assist with long term care planning for my grandfather. Mr. Rothkoff was abrupt, condescending, and abrasive. While his office staff were nothing but pleasant, his off-putting manners counteracted any rapport my family felt with that office. Here are specific examples of his behavior: 1.) When I asked questions, he would often tell me that either he was not going to answer that yet or ask me what I thought, then say, "Well there's your answer". 2.) Our two hour meeting ended after only an hour and a half, mostly due to his lack of interest in our situation. This was clear by the tone in his voice and the lack of information he supplied. 3.) Rather than staying focused on the task at hand, he spent several minutes in off-topic conversation that did interest him, such as fishing, the restaurants in my neighborhood, etc. Considering the amount of money he was provided for his time, I expected him to not only treat us with respect but also to have substantial information to take away. All in all, I believe the visit was a waste of time. I would not recommend him to anyone seeking support for elder care planning. Someone with better manners and true empathy for the concerns of the family would be a better candidate.

I am the sole responsible party regarding the affairs of my elderly - 95 year old and 98 year old - parents. Our initial contact with this firm and Mr. Rothkoff was superb. My wife, being an attorney, was also very impressed with Mr. Rothkoff's vast knowledge and expertise of all aspects relating to Elder Law issues and the clarity in his approach to the vast problems we and my parents were facing regarding their necessary transition to a care facility. Our relationship with the Rothkoff Group has been quite refreshing from a financial perspective since we initially decided upon and engaged the services of Mr. Rothkoff and his fine staff 3 and a half years ago. He and his staff's services are billed by an upfront very reasonable yearly fee for which there are no restrictions upon the frequency nor the intricacy of the matters which for which we contact them for advise, counsel and the services they perform.
I have recommended his firm and services to many individuals whom I know, who have been in similar situations of caring for the total wellbeing and financial aspects of a loved one. I would strongly endorse and recommend he and his firm to anyone finding themselves in similar situations.

Jerry just helped my mother complete the very difficult process of applying for and getting Medicaid. My mother was living at home until recently but had a medical incident and went to hospital. After recovering, she wasn't able to return home but needed long-term care. But without Medicaid, which was in process (but bureaucracies have their own timetable), she had few options. Fortunately, Jerry has set up a bridge process with a couple of local care facilities that enabled Mom to get excellent care while waiting for her application to be accepted. That process was finalized a couple of weeks ago but she was already settled and does not have to go through an additional transition. The Rothkoff law firm has been a blessing to my mother and our family.

I could not have survived the Medicaid application process and my father's transition to a nursing home facility without all of the support and knowledge from the Rothkoff Law Team!
