I had a similar bad impression from Steve. Steve seems to dodge talking to you (this is not the thing that would hinder me from choosing him though).
With Steve, you can gather all the information for him and mail it to him 3 weeks before your appointment (as he prefers) to have his secretary call you the day of the consult to tell you you have a lack of information for an appeal? I asked to speak to Steve a couple minutes to ask what information he needs me to gather to help my case....Steve then told his Secretary to tell me he wasn't there (I guess dodging shouldn't be a surprise, it was a mere 1 hour before my appointment).
Steve, stop dodging (I just needed some guidance on what material you would desire so I don't have to pay for endless tests and appointment consults that would have any grounds)? I'm not one for advice or anything but once you stop caring about your Vets you should probably retire (by caring I mean taking a minute to help point one in the proper direction, as far as what information would be helpful, after you cancel an appointment the last minute due to lack of information?). I was recommended to him from a different attorney...does anyone know of a decent VA appeals attorney around Cincinnati area? Just need patience to answer a few questions regarding what material and evaluations to obtain before a consult...anything else I'm not too particular?
I feel bad leaving a negative comment given he offers consults and his secretary is very nice...but I don't think asking a couple questions to clarify a pathway to success was requesting too much from him. Also, others reviews seemed to match similar frustrations.

DO NOT use him as an attorney. He looks out for himself instead of looking out for his clients. All he wants is the big payout, every time I tried to talk to him I was brushed off to another employee. Also, if you intend to use him, expect at least 6 months wait before ever getting a phone call from him.

If you have reservations trust your instincts you had at first. If he says he doesn't like people to nickel-and-dime him that's what he does and he doesn't keep his word. Don't trust words get everything in writing don't believe "oh you just have to trust us" that being said 1 * for me... Not a trust worthy paralegal and lawyer don't expect too much this lawyer is impatient, easily angered and not your friend.
He is a very considerate man that is willing to go above and beyond to help you. If he can't help you, he will tell you this and recommend you to someone else.
