TOTAL SUCCESS! My wife and I hired Mr. Don Daugherty, four days before a custody trial for my seven year old son that had been set for over eight months. From the first contact with Mr. Daugherty I knew I had reached the right attorney. He met with me on a Sunday morning and immediately began informing me of the legal process, the proper legal terminology to describe what I was asking for and what was in the best interest of my young son. By noon the next business day Mr. Daugherty had reviewed the court’s file, determined what judge we would have and reviewed all the material I had left with and sent to him. At the second meeting, which my present wife attended, she too experienced the same feeling that we had the right attorney. Mr Daugherty reviewed in court process in detail , the specific statutory factors the judge must consider in deciding whether there should be a change in custody, what the judge would do as to court procedure and cautioned us that this judge, although an outstanding one, had / has a reputation for being harsh with witnesses who cannot answer questions directly. Answer the question! Mr Daugherty insisted on that in all our responses to him and it paid off at trial.

In court Mr Daugherty was respectful and kind in addressing the judge and opposing party and in so doing received the same respect. In direct and cross examination of the mother Mr. Daugherty was able to get the mother to admit significant facts and events which bore directly on the judge appearing to have no hesitation in awarding me primary physical custody. Mr Daugherty was very forceful and sincere in arguing my case and my son is now safe and secure in my loving home. My sense of satisfaction cannot be adequately described. I was recently involved in a very contentious custody battle. I had the very good fortune of obtaining Kim Luckey of the Daugherty Law Firm as my Legal representation for trial. First I want to say I posted this in the past when it initially happened but Don threatened to sue me and charge me more money if I did not take down the review. He stated that I had to go through the Virginia Bar if I wanted to voice a negative comment. This is a review. He is not on trial. I am an Army Aviator and have spent 16 years on Active Duty. I have deployed to Afghanistan and have dedicated my adult life to the service of this nation. Don Daugherty did a terrible job for me in my Pedente Lite hearing. My ex should have paid him for his performance. He very poorly represented me and I fired him the next day. It is my opinion of his services, and in my opinion he did a terrible job representing me and I do not recommend his services. Notice there is only praise on his google posts. The review process on google is not only for positive comments, it is also for people like me that have had a bad experience with his services. Don is a lawyer and this is his craft so I succumbed to taking down the post in the past. This time it will not be removed. Don's reasoning for me taking down the post was because he didn't get "Due Process" in the review. I did not get "Due Process" when he poorly represented me, and it is not for the Virginia Bar to decide my opinion on his service for me. That is what this google rate and review are for.

3/28/2017 - Don Daugherty represented my fiance in her most recent visitation battle. He was amazing and we couldn't have asked for a better attorney. Our case wasn't a big deal but he treated it like it was a big case b/c he knew it was a big deal to us.
