It's a shame responsible citizens have to pay your clients attorney fees. What a screwed up system in St Charles County courts. I can't believe you can sleep at night.

Nevada provided service that I believe was second to none. Two things that my case was not is short or easy. The one true north that I always had was Nevada as he was there every step of the way to provide me guidance and ensure that we made progress toward my best interest not anyone else’s. He was extremely responsive and compassionate to all of my concerns but also firm when he needed to ensure that I was thinking clearly and not allowing me to get wrapped up in the emotion that goes along with the situation. I hardly expect that from anyone except my closest friends let alone my attorney. It is safe to say that I was not just a client of Nevada’s, but he also treated me as a true friend not just a client. I know that Nevada practices in multiple areas and he has a client for life with me. I would recommend that if you have any reservations just sit down and have a conversation with him and you will hire him on the spot just as I did!

DO NOT ALLOW THIS MAN TO REPRESENT YOUR CHILDREN AS A GAL
Like 2 other individuals have shared on this forum, I absolutely agree with their own negative experiences with Nevada Smith as the GAL representing their children in a legal situation.
One child spoke to Nevada directly and brought in actual proof that he/she was being abused, which he failed to report and took no viable action against in court. This child was directed to stay in the household where the guardian was abusive and now suffers from PTSD and severe anxiety. That child’s younger sibling suffers from anxiety as well. There is extensive proof of emotional neglect whithin that household which is the culprit of the mental disorders the children suffer from. Nevada himself has shown absolutely no regard for the children, although he claims he works for the best interest of them. He is easily manipulated, has no independent thought of his own, and couldn’t care less about the outcome of the children he represents. I STRONGLY suggest that if you need a GAL that you seek a female attorney who will pay attention to detail and listen to your children. The damage that has been done to the children is absolutely heartbreaking.
I would highly recommend Nevada Smith Law office if you need a good divorce attorney. From the very first meeting I felt relaxed and in good hands with Nevada. He made the entire divorce process painless (as painless as possible) and as quick as possible. He was always prepared and answered all of my questions and concerns.

Monica was very professional during the entire process. Being an immigrant can be difficult, and the process is long and complicated. Monica truly help my family a lot and she went beyond her duties to make sure everything was right. I would highly recommend her to anybody needed legal advice regarding immigration. She will for sure be my permanent legal Immigration attorney.

Nevada Smith came highly recommended by a friend. I was suffering much distress and frustration with my then current attorney. Often finding myself disappointed with word of mouth recommendations, I decided to take a chance and make an appointment with Nevada anyway. Within minutes of meeting Nevada I knew this was an attorney that was certainly a breath of fresh air and clearly compassionate regarding his clients. I released my then current attorney and hired Nevada that day. You can pay an attorney a lot of money but you can’t buy skilled competence, perseverance, genius analytical skills or the secure feeling that you are unquestionably in good hands. Nevada possesses this magical combination. My complicated and difficult case ended successfully and I attribute that to my decision to hire Nevada. His excellent communication and his amazing staff are icing on the cake. My faith in ethical, skilled, creative, kind and empathetic attorneys has been fully restored. I confidently recommend Nevada Smith and rejoice with glee when I receive a big thank you for the recommendation. He is an honor to his profession.

Nevada Smith and his staff were great, I was very satisfied. The initial decision of my divorce was a no-end date alimony, and he solved that for me. He was very professional and he remembered every detail of what I told him about my case. I just wished I had used him as my first lawyer during my divorce, that would've probably saved me a ton of money. I highly recommend Smith Law for anyone going thru a divorce or family dispute.

I would like to thank Nevada and his staff for the excellent service they provided to my brother. I always feel very comfortable hiring Nevada because of the professionalism and personal attention to all details. Nevada is always prepared and responsive, he valued my opinions and explained the whole process to us. Last week Nevada fought hard for my brother, he negotiated on our behalf and he was tough when needed. Nevada went above and beyond and did everything he could to ensure a great outcome. Thank you Nevada and Kim again on doing a great job.

I was recommended by a family member to use Nevada Smith but at the time of my case, he could not take me on as a client. I was then offered to use Jordan Panger who I really liked as a person but as my attorney, I began losing confidence in him along the way. Sometimes I would have to remind him of certain pointers I wanted to make and I don’t think I should have had to. I was disappointed in part of the outcome in my case because I don’t feel like the arguments I made were laid out for the judge. I asked to be there but was told I didn’t need to because the conference was “between the attorneys and the judge”. In my honest opinion, I feel like as my case became ongoing, I felt liked a milked cow. These things can get costly, but I was being asked to come into the office for things that could be done over the phone or if it was a document that needed signing, it could’ve been emailed it to me. I knew it would use more of his time which meant more money for him, whereas a phone call would allow me to have control and monitor the time actually spent on my case. Speaking of emails, I was being emailed for things other than documents and charged significantly. I noticed this started to happen a lot so I requested to be called and to leave a message if I couldn’t answer. One thing in particular that stood out to me was that on the first day of my conference trial, I was told 15-20 minutes before the trial- that it would be cancelled because the opposing party had court elsewhere. I may not know a lot of things but I do know that you do not find out about court at the last minute. I was still charge because he was “advised to show up”. Not to mention, I lost PTO time and I am a young mom of 2. I lost time and money that day. Here I am, well over $5k later, thanking God the opposing party gave up because I don’t think it would’ve gotten any better.

Very disappointed. My husband paid $50.00 for one hour appointment to discuss an immigration issue, and this attorney only spent 30 minutes out of the 60 minutes, and my husband left the building asking himself the same questions he had before going to see the attorney. She left my husband and I with the same doubts and questions. Not nice at all.

Mr. Nevada Smith did an outstanding job representing my children. He took the time to learn the details surrounding the custody battle for my children and did what was right for the kids to keep them physically and emotionally safe. My child enjoyed speaking to Mr. Smith and felt comforted having him in his corner. If you live in St. Charles County and want the very best Guardian Ad Litem for your children, Mr. Nevada Smith is the right attorney for the job.

Nevada Smith served as the GAL (guardian ad litem) for my never-ending custody case and did an outstanding job. First and foremost, Nevada places the children that he's appointed and entrusted to serve (and protect) at the forefront of any decision he makes. Nevada has the wisdom and clarity to separate fact from fiction in contentious and emotional custody battles. I would highly recommend Nevada Smith as an attorney for any issues related to family law.

For all the dad's out there who feel like they don't have a great chance at winning a custody case I'd suggest Mr. Smith. He provided me with his honest assessment of my case and made me no promises. I'm the kind of person who would rather have honesty than pay a lawyer to blow smoke and take money.
From what I saw through my case is he covers every step needed and kept me in the loop for all of it.
I've always done the best I can to be a father and am grateful for Mr. Smith help in solidifying my case with the courts.
I not only would recommend him to my friends or family who was looking for a lawyer but wanted to put a review on here for other fathers who are looking for a solid attorney.

Just like another person said, If I could give him 0 stars I would. If he is appointed your GAL....RUN! He did not speak with my kids' schools, doctors, or counselor. He lied about what my kids told him and made a determination of what was in their "best interests" after spending maybe a combined 40 mins with each kid. He did not do a home study even though the allegations merited it and he said he would. At court he flat out said he knew how manipulative the other parent was and how they were alienating the kids but he wasn't going to do anything about it. He said they were in counseling and thats what thats for and that hopefully someday they'd be able to see through the other parent's lies and manipulations. According to him, their mental health is not a factor he considers to be relevant to best interests. When I had a whole bunch of documentation to prove some of the things the other parent had done he said he was not going to waste time looking through all of that. He just flat out does not care about cases he is appointed to. My kids now hate him and blame him for nothing changing or getting better at court. He did not respond to any phone calls or emails. He commented on the other reviewer that gave him 1 star that the judge can always reject his opinion. Everyone knows that the judges almost always follow what the GALS say without further investigation because that is what the GAL is supposed to do. This man should not be allowed to serve as a GAL. The fate of children rests in his hands but he couldn't care less.

I was on a sinking ship, working with Cordell and Cordell for almost 9 months at an extreme cost, I was finally divorced, by default, only to have my ex find a dead beat lawyer that just wanted money, to get the case re-opened and hit me with emergency child support and her lawyer fees. She was on prescription pills and alcohol and I couldn't do anything about it....thanks to Cordell and Cordell, I was also out $26,000 for a default judgment with nothing but more bills coming.
Then I lucked upon Nevada Smith and his firm. Wow, it was like winning the lawyer lottery. Nevada and his team took me in and took care of me and my children. Within a couple months he had already righted the ship and finally I felt like I was listened to about the concerns I had for my children. Typically the fathers that care don't get a chance, in my opinion, to take care of their children when the mother clearly chooses a bad path. Nevada listened and fought for my children, to put them in the best possible situation. He worked hard for me and ensured he kept the cost down, extremely reasonable....I wish I found him out of the gate with this whole ordeal my kids and I experienced.
I highly recommend Nevada and his team for any of the dads out there that care and know what's best for their children. I promise working with him will change you view of lawyers and you will know that some lawyers actually do care about you and your situation...not what they can charge you to put you in a worse situation.

I am so thankful for Nevada and his firm. I can't imagine how my litigation experiences would have gone without them! I met several lawyers before Nevada and they all made me feel uncomfortable and seemed to fit the stereotype of only caring about money and not the people/issues involved. Nevada has proven to me that there are good lawyers who truly care!
Over the course of the past five years Nevada has helped me through several very emotional and stressful litigations. He and his team were always great with communicating, educating, and fighting for what was right! As a result, I was provided with reassurance and peace of mind that my issues would be taken care of and (most importantly) my children would too. Great respect, trust and loyalty has been built throughout the years as a result of their fair treatment and consistent, unrelenting support. I've been relieved and happy by the positive results obtained at court. Nevada is sharp, grounded, a good person, and truly cares.

I was referred to Nevada as a family law attorney that was reasonable, but really good. As my case unfolded over the past 4 years, he has proven this time and time again. I could not have been placed in better hands.
When I walked into Nevada's office for the first time I was paralyzed with fear that I would not be able to protect my son. He never once made me any promises, but he did listen to my story and gave me hope. Thoughout the years my case took to litigate, he was the steady and assertive hand guiding every step of the way. He was the calm in the storm that was my life.
By the time my trial arrived, I realized he was more than just really good. Yes, he was organized and prepared. It wasn't that. It was every little comment and email that I thought to myself there is no way he will ever remember all of this. How could he possibly remember 4 years of me calling every week sometimes numerous times a week or even a day? But he did, all of it!! I watched in awe as he went into this zone where he was able to weave together my story and the evidence with his knowledge of the law and his intention to serve his clients to the best of his ability. I was able to see greatness as he is someone who has truly become a master of his craft.
When I walked out of the court room, I knew it did not matter what the judge ultimately decided. I knew Nevada did everything within his power to advocate for me and my son.
If you are lucky enough to hire Nevada, please be assured...he is listening...he is doing his homework...he is fighting for you.

Nevada Smith was the court appointed GAL for my son. After fighting for almost 15 years, Nevada was the first GAL that took time to listen. He met with all parties involved, reviewed my son's school records, talked to my son's therapist, and was prompt with returning calls. He looked at both sides and made his recommendation, which the court agreed with. I am very thankful that Nevada Smith was the GAL appointed to our case.

If I could give zero stars I would. Nevada was the GAL in my case, and had a clear favorite from the beginning. He failed to talk to my son's school and doctors. He ignored mine and my sons dozens of phone calls to his office. If me or my son wanted to talk to him we had to show up at his office. He failed to look out for my son's best interest. A GAL is suppose to be the attorney of the child, instead he was more like co-counsel for my ex. Nevada didn't do his job. I do not reccomend this attorney!!

My case was straight forward with no complications so it was a walk in the park from a legal advice perspective.
I worked with Monica and she was alright- knows her stuff. She has a tendency to be perceived as a little "cold" but don't let that throw you off.
Her communication (email, phone etc) is good. She'll make sure to get back in touch.
The location is good- with plenty of parking. The pricing is ever so slightly on the higher side but I suppose its on a case by case basis.
With that said, i would recommend Smith Law Office
