I have run the gambit on attorneys. I had an attorney hand me the generic “father gets every other weekend, pays full support,” agreement and advise that I just settle. I have had a micromanager that did not actually do anything but notated every explanation that I did not want for all of those billable hours. I have had attorneys who saw me as a father (in a world where mothers tend win) and did not want to put forth the effort to actually try to win.
If you are looking for a no-nonsense, straight to the point attorney, look no further. He will not waste your time explaining (unless you ask, of course) and will leverage his experience to guide you through the process.
If you are looking for an attorney who will return your calls and emails within a 24-hour period, look no further. He rarely called me just to check in with me, though he did call if there were developments in my case. He did not coddle me and send me multiple (billable) reminders about upcoming case management conferences and court dates.
If you are looking for an attorney with great ideas for real compromises, who will not just acquiesce because it is easy, look no further. While drafting the parenting plan, the snags that Mom and I ran into would have held us up indefinitely, but he provided thoughtful resolutions to keep things moving.
In the end, I ended up with custody, school, and medical. Mom ended up with a few weekends throughout the year and part of the summer. I really could not be happier with the services provided by Mr. Steinman. His experience and candor actually saved me money and gave me more than I could have ever hoped to get.

He's getting away from General Practice though and will be full time Bankruptycy Attorney very soon.
