Very disappointed with James R. Gotwals & Associates. Used him for divorce mediation. At $320 per hour, his performance was terrible. He worked extraordinarily slow and only procured 2 offers for settlement in a 3 hour session. Rather than focus on important issues, he wasted time on minor issues and gathering unrelated details of the marriage. A good mediator would have been able to arrive at the same result in under an hour, but that is not in his best interest.

Additionally, I found him very unprofessional. While he should have remained impartial, he expressed clear bias and disrespect during the session. If you can, I strongly suggest choosing another mediator.

He wants to brag about his success rate but my mediation was not a success as the agreement is still going back and forth because the other attorney is trying to add things that were not given to him in mediation and I do not care for the amount of time it took him (that were part of the billing time) to set up the mediation. He sends out information packets prior explaining everything and then takes another 30-40 minutes during your mediation time to brag on himself and explain again. I feel like I was railroaded and the other party was given the advantage as he was the referral of the other attorney. I would also suggest that you take notes as I believe he adds language to the ending statement that is not correct and since I can see one error in the transcript of something I said that was shown as the other parties attorney I know mistakes can be made.
