Mrs.Nichols was the best attorney I could ask for she was straight forward with what I needed to do to get my sons back. As long as you do what she says she will do everything she can to help you. I recommend her for your family law needs!

Horrible 5 years ago. Horrible today. Money talks..morals don't.

I hired Mrs.Cooke to take care of my custody dispute with my ex boyfriend and she was so helpful and hardworking. She and her staff kept me well informed about anything going on in my case. She does her job very well and even kept my two children occupied while we were in our appointments with coloring books . My children and I loved and appreciated Mrs.Cooke all throughout the case with my ex.

Mrs. Cooke has done a couple of things for me over the years and I wouldn't want anybody else handling my cases. She is kind, attentive, and worth every penny she charges. I enjoyed her assistant as well she helped me with any questions I had if Mrs.Cooke happened to be unavailable. I can say with out a doubt this attorney is who to go to in Cumberland County.

Shes a biased thief

I don’t think anyone ever plans on needing to hire an attorney, but our family circumstances brought us to needing to hire Heather. I am so grateful that we did, and even though we did not win our case, having her support and her voice for us in court when we had none was invaluable. If you are a foster parent needing legal representation, I highly highly recommend Mrs. Cooke.

Heather Cooke is not only unprofessional, overpriced and unresponsive she is also unbelievably unpleasant!
I did NOT get what I payed for and you really want to make sure to read your agreement thoroughly before you sign and let them slide your credit card. She “sounds good” in her initial consultation but literally stops moving once she has your $$
I felt she didn’t represent my best interest but I was already stuck with her since I paid her upfront. However, ended up hiring a REAL Attorney who finished the job in a matter of weeks, while she couldn’t get it done within several month.
Mrs Cooke is not someone you should do business with. I highly regret working with her, I would’ve rather flushed the money in the toilet!
Do yourself a favor and do your research, she has all these bad reviews for a good reason. There are decent lawyers in this town who actually still have respect for the legal profession and don’t just rip you, but she is definitely not one of them.

wow is all i can say called to find out what thier fees are and never felt so stupid

I paid her 3500 upfront! My 7 year old has been with me his whole life his father left us before he was even one, now his dad that has never been in his life nor been to any birthday parties never helped with supporting his son. His girlfriend has kids and wants him to take his son away from me and at the end of aug he did an emergency ex party order and his lawyer Hatley and judge prone did it illegally and went to Ga to take my son away from me he has been gone for 3 months now and she withdrew from my case stating I wasn't keeping her informed etc. which is all lies! She withdrew from my case!!! Which is BS bc she was hired to defend me and my son and give us the best advice she could and to protect my sons well being and she hadn't did none of that she put him in harms way because my ex had physically harmed my oldest child and he got locked up for that and she knows all of this and still didn't seem to fight for us. And my son is 7 years old and doesn't know why he has to stay with a man and lady that he doesn't know. I tell him on the phone to pray about it and try to have fun while he is up there. If this doesn't get resolved like it should then the North Carolina bar association would love to hear about this case! The crazy thing about all this my ex is not married to his girlfriend and she has no say so in this what so ever but on his part there is no affidavit in the paperwork she has been the only one to write one and she has nothing to do with this at all! Me and my ex met in the army he lived with me for a year on post and the whole time I didn't know he was already married and by the time I found out I was already pregnant and I had paid for his divorce because I felt like that was the right thing to do. So once I gave birth he just up and left us. He always had my phone number vice versa and he always knew where I stayed but he never kept me inform where he stayed and then I had recently moved from NC to GA because my lawyer informed me that would be the best move to have family support etc well she told the courts I never kept her informed about anything which is all lies! I have a paper trail! Just want people to know that every child custody case is case by case and has different circumstances so this is just my opinion on how I have been treated on my case. But I just want people to know no matter what your going through and how hard it might get don't give up!! Don't listen to the negitive and don't get out of character because that's what they won't! My ex has a record! Open container and gun charges. And I have a clean record! So the court system is all about the money and they don't care about the well being of the child or children! It's a black market for them! Per to say it's a legal black market of that makes sense! Don't give up and keep moving forward!

If you like spending unnecessary money she is just the attorney you need. Doesn't really care about the client. Just cares about lining her pockets. Mrs Peoples is great though. Only thing good about that law firm.

Just like the previous review stated. She is unprofessional and biased. She is unwilling to argue for what's right as opposed to what's legal. It seems as if she speaks assertively in the intial consultation to lock you into a $1500 retainer, then once she has your money she just goes through the motions and will make no effort to truly represent what her client wants/needs. Everyone should stay away from this attorney if you care about being represented with any sort of personal interest in your case. The only good thing I can say, is her paralegal (Sharon) is very helpful and personable. She never met me but took a personal interest into my concerns about my case.
