We are going through a custody battle and Melinda was hired to help try and resolve this instead of court. She was judgmental, rude, and turned out that she was doing an interview for my ex to be their lawyer if this goes to court. When Melinda interviewed the kids she only asked questions about what my ex was accusing me off and nothing about how they are doing and what they wanted. Mind you is why were in this to begin with cause my ex is stating that is what the children want. Melinda spent 3 hrs of our 4 hr appt talking to my ex and 45 min talking to me. During that 45 min she called me a bad parent and told me I was being unfair to my ex when I said the most important thing is the kids getting what they needed. Then proceeded to tell me that it was ok that my ex would only see the kids for 2 hours of their overnight visit cause that's all she spent with her kids and making them spend anymore time then that would make the kids feel restricted and controlled. Melinda was also very adamant about avoiding any question I asked about how the kids would be taken care of, anything about child support, and concerns I had for their well being do to past issues that were as recent as this past summer. When I called her out on this fact she stated that was not the case and she was sorry I felt that way. When I asked then why have you not heard anything I have said about what the kids need and concerns I have for things that have been done to them by my ex. She avoided the question and ended our session. I do not recommend this mediator/lawyer cause she will choose a side and does not seem to have any concern for the children.

Melinda was very helpful in my case as she jumped right in and was able to save me a substantial amount on litigation costs. She saved me because she knew the law and knew her way to get us to a settlement. She was very straightforward with us. It is refreshing when an attorney really becomes your advocate.
