When the time came to meet with the trustee, I felt prepared, calm, and confident. It was interesting to watch the cases that were before us. Every single one had problems of some kind. One did not have all the information filled out and so it took longer. One didn't know the answer to one of the questions and so it also took longer. The third one was totally unprepared to even be there and was told to gather the information and then come back when she was prepared. When it was our turn, thanks to Marji's expertise, organization and follow-through with me, all our i's were dotted and all our t's were crossed! We were done and on our way out in about three or four minutes.
She genuinely cares about her clients and makes an extremely stressful process about as stress-free as it can get. I am so thankful that I found out about her. Without reservation, I highly recommend Marji Hanson!
In retrospect;it probably would have been better to go with a Chapter 10. That way we would have 4 years since the discharge. This is a significant factor when attempting to secure credit after the discharge date. In the case of Chapter 13,the bankruptcy is not discharged until all payments have been completed.
We are attempting to re-finance our home and take advantage of lower interest rates,so seasoning of the discharge date,is considered by prospective creditors. Incidently; we have no intention of borrowing money against our home for "other" purposes than to reduce interest and payments.
