I've lived in NE Philly just about my whole life and so when I visit a lawyer across from roosevelt mall slightly cheaper to a bunch of people downtown obviously I was skeptical as I'm sure any Philly native might be. At the end of the day Mr. Kaplan took me in 2 hours before he closed on a holiday and was nice and very forward. He asked me the right questions, told me when he would call after he was done reviewing my case, told me what to wear and even knew the judge. He called at the time said told me he felt we had a strong case and how we would go about it. At the end of the day I never had to see the judge. He had it dropped after putting in great effort to convice my ex who is notoriously difficult to deal with to do so. He could see right through her and her family she had brought with her and even gave me advice about a separate issue which he was not required to do. And on top of it all I saved over $1000 minimum. Really couldn't ask for much more.

Great lawyer, very professional he made it possible for me to see my kids sooner than I thought it could be possible, even though the 2nd hearing was 7 month away from today’s date. My services are now complete with the desired results; I am now divorced. So kudos for doing your job that you were hired and paid to do. So why didn’t his services warrant a five star review? My experience with Mr. Kaplan and his spouse was that they were often difficult to get a hold of via telephone. They also had very little consideration for repeated reminders that my spouse was not a female during my approximately six-month divorce process. I kept reminding them that it was 2017 and that gay marriage didn’t happen yesterday...yet they kept referring to my spouse as my wife every time they spoke.

Worst mistake and compete waste of money. He did not take the time to hear my story concerning my ex husband and child custody case. Kept telling me the issues I was bringing up were irrelevant. The day of court my ex husband's lawyer started bringing up those "irrelevant" issues. Lawyer was seriously reaching in the air for something to hold onto and say. The judge became angry at my lawyer and I because I was trying to catch him up on all these "irrelevent" issues. I ended up loosing the case because of his lack of due diligence.

It has been two years and my kids are now in therapy for emotional disturbances and are falling behind in school. Two things I brought up two years ago, education and mental health. I am going back again this month, this time without a lawyer because only I know all the "irrelevant" issues.

I had a problem with a car dealership. Then I had his help to fix everything. It was great and I am satisfied.

My husband and I have worked with Mr. Kaplan on my husband’s child custody case for over a year. Although it can be such a lengthy process to go through the Philadelphia Family Court system to get custody of a child, Mr. Kaplan helped us every step of the way. Last week he won my husband’s case and got him physical custody of his son so all of his kids could be united again.

Mr. Kaplan truly cares about his clients and is very knowledgeable about the court system. He even went out of his way to call us twice after the hearing to check in to see how things were going and answer any of our questions. Hiring Kaplan for Child Custody & Relocation was one of the BIGGEST MISTAKES OF MY LIFE!!!! I LITERALLY paid him to do NOTHING!!! FIRST off: he made me prepare documents on my OWN, docs he was paid a retainer for of 2450 to HELP me articulate... the ONLY person he was aggressive to was ME! Day of the hearing, he obviously kept asking the clerk for more time so he could run out the retainer. When we finally got seen several hours later, the judge clearly seemed to hate him because he had NO answers and she knew he was stalling...and everytime I tried to tell him important info about the abuse of my ex, he says "that's not relevant"... He was extremely rude and Disrespectful to me! He diid NO research and while he was on MY time, he was trying to recruit other clients. The ENTIRE hearing, he said about 20 words!!! He told ME "be loud and aggressive", and the judge clearly didnt like that (as all judges are different), and my ex was soft and gentle, and she responded better to him and believed HIM! In Philly, I heard from someone in court Kaplan is unlikable to 75% of the judges. He told me he saw who was residing over my case and that he had a good working relationship with her, but once we LOST, he told me he only had a case with her ONCE and that she is old-fashioned, unpredictable, and to not it personal & she doesn't handle relocations ...but you were confident about the judge UNTIL after I paid you the retainer fee? Ok!!! This My child's LIFE on the line and all he cared about was money, NOT fighting for his client once she dismissed the case!!!

It was CLEAR he cared NOTHING about winning the case, he took other calls on MY time, I HIRED him a month before my hearing and never even got an intake interview! LEGAL AID helped me more than my own lawyer. The father of my child is a narcissistic, abusive, stalking LIAR with NO lawyer who was in and out of his son's life and Kaplan's hands were shaking the entire hearing as my ex was speaking. He might be getting up in age and I gave him ALL the info he needed to win the case and the judge threw everything out because my LAWYER was incompetent. I actually saw the court officials laughing amongst one another as he was speaking. He couldn't even ever get my NAME right! He called me "Antonio" when my name is Antonia (I'm sure the judge realized he had NO knowledge of this case since couldn't get my NAME or incident timeline right).... AFTER the trial, when we got no results on modification or relocation, he looks at me and says "Well, we tried!" When i was crying and disappointed after the hearing he said "I didn't say we would win!" You will never be able to contact him directly before the hearing because he is overbooked..., he calls from a private number.. And i had NO time to talk to him until the day of the hearing after I retained him a month BEFORE!! Kaplan DOESN'T CARE!!! Also, there are cheaper retainer fees And better lawyers. VERY unprofessional and CARELESS with my case! This man won't even remember your name or circumstance. He should retire.
