My husband sought this law firm back in August of 2018. He met with one of their junior lawyers, and was told this case was cut and dry. About a month later he was told that the case had been filed. After not hearing of any progress for about a month afterwards (still receiving documentation that charges were being accrued) He reached out to them, waited two weeks, and reached out again. Finally after a month and a half his lawyer responded and gave him absolutely no answer to any of the questions he had reached out to them for. Fast forward to January 2019..he receives a call from one of the senior partners saying that they were dropping his case. He was told that he wouldn't be charged for the eight thousand dollars that had accumulated as if they were doing him a favor. Nothing was done with his case, the case (that he had paid to file) hadn't even been filed! He had been lied to and made to wait months only to learn they were going to do nothing that was promised. Unfortunately I cannot recommend this firm. They were dishonest and they dropped the ball...to put it mildly. Now we're having to start this process all over again and in the meantime my husband is being forced to drive around in a car that they knew was potentially and most likely unsafe.

Hello and want to take the opportunity to thank this law firm for treating us like family. If you are looking for professional representation, kindness and understanding, look no further! We had a mortgage company that stopped accepting payments until we were in default, then sold our mortgage to another company that we were never notified of. Furthermore, we looked online for a real estate attorney. Not only did Doucet and associates help us but completely made us feel at ease. Going forward, you will only be sorry if you don't reach out to them for a consultation . It is because I believed in them that my family is able to stay in home. God bless you guys!

The only lawyer that could help me out. In 2008 many mortgage companies went out of business and\or they did what was called “a bank walk away “. This means that banks did not want to file foreclosure proceedings on houses because of the expense. I was in a situation where I had rental properties that had lost their value. I spent several years trying to find out who held the mortgage on these properties so I can negotiate with them but had no luck. After talking to several lawyers who said they could help and they could not I finally was referred to Troy Doucet. He was the only lawyer that was able to find out who held the mortgages and help me negotiate with the banks. Troy did an amazing job for me when no one else could

My new car was rear-ended and totaled just a year after purchasing. Attorney Christopher Gant at Doucet & Associates helped me with the settlement—for both vehicle damage as well as bodily injury—after I received discouraging and unacceptable treatment from my own insurance company. Before seeking legal counsel I felt like I was being taken advantage of by the insurance companies and did not feel I had the knowledge nor the expertise to resolve the situation without getting into significant debt. It was an extremely stressful situation for me financially and emotionally. Chris and Doucet took the burden off my shoulders and made sure I got what I deserved for the value of my car and the pain and suffering caused by the accident. Chris was very responsive: I never felt out of the loop and everything was explained so I understood my options in all situations. I'm grateful for Chris's patience and help and can firmly say I am better off for choosing Doucet & Associates for legal assistance.

In 2010 when my husband was deployed we ran into some issues with our mortgage company and they had filed foreclosure on us. One call to Troy and I knew everything was going to be okay! Sadly, it didn’t stop there. We ended up having to go back to court two more times but thankfully with Troy and his associates by our side. We won every single time thanks to them. Not only are the incredibly professional but they treated us like family. We have always came out on top with them and would highly recommend them to everyone.

I had such a great experience with this law firm. I had a tricky case with a previous landlord dispute which was resolved in my benefit and then my attorney Tim Cook went the extra mile and found another case within my case. He took it on pro-bono. I ended up winning another case and got a pretty pay out too! Tim was always available to call if I had questions or updates in regards to my cases. I highly recommend this law firm for any law advice and cases they are able to take on. 5 stars for sure!

In my initial consultation with Troy, he gave me good indications that my case was strong, simple and straightforward. Based on the information he provided and those I read on his website, I was under the impression that his firm has previously handled cases similar to mine. I felt confident that my case would not be a novel undertaking for the firm. Once I signed the fee agreement, I never once again met or spoke with Troy. At the start of my case, I found out that the attorney assigned to me had quit and I was told the new person handling my case would be “J” (name withheld), who I later found out was a law clerk (but billed as attorney, even though he was licensed in another state at that time), and his boss, Andew Gerling, who had to sign off on everything. Maybe that’s why my first two billing statements show an inordinate amount of time (about 24+ hours) spent on the (enumerated) complaint filed with the court, not to mention the repeated review or meeting with senior or supervising attorneys regarding my case. I communicated mostly with “J” throughout my case, who was nice and personable, and I spoke with Andrew twice, mostly about billing issues and my concern that I would not fully recover my loss because of the mounting legal expenses. First call, he was very reassuring. Second time, he went back on his assurances as I understood them and was pretty rude, in my opinion. In the end, the total legal bill was about 70% of the settlement award. After negotiating with the firm, they discounted their fees so I would get 40%. I think it is disingenuous to say that I got 100% of the award just because the settlement amount was split into two payments: one check was made out to me and the other was paid to Troy’s firm. I understand that law firms have to earn money. There are fees associated with all the services they provide. I do not begrudge them that and they did work on my case. However, I feel like they could have accomplished the work needed with less hours. And it really didn’t reassure me when I saw the opposing counsel had even questioned the reasonableness of their fees in their court filings. Maybe this was just a trial tactic from the other side, but it reinforced my concerns. Overall, it was a very stressful experience for me to worry constantly whether I would be worse off than when I started and I felt strongly enough to leave this review based on my actual experience, how I felt I was treated, and what I know to be true for my case.
Best of luck to you too

I have been very pleased with the hard work done for me by this firm. Tim Cook has been very helpful keeping me posted as to how things are progressing. I have never needed an attorney for dealing with a mess caused by hiring an incompetent contractor, after dealing with hiring several contractors for over 30 years. Unfortunately the Attorney General's Office chose to turn their back on helping me. I have had to deal with a mess I never thought I would be in. Tim has on more than one occasion helped calm my concerns about matters. The best advice he gave me was to write down every detail about the mater as soon as I first talked with him. I believe he has done an excellent job getting things ready for review by the judge and trial, if it has to come to that.

I contacted Doucet @ Associates at a time when I was too busy to deal with a legal matter due to illness in the family. They told me that I could save money by doing things myself, but I needed to spend the time with my ill family member, and told them to represent me. While I might have found a less expensive firm (based on hourly charges alone), this firm had the insight and experience to deal with the various courts and other attorneys, and to settle my case out of court while still getting results that worked out both for me and the other side.
I would highly recommend this firm to anyone needing legal services, especially services at the core of their business. They worked following my preferences and came back only when needed to get my clarification and approvals. I am very satisfied with their services.

I talked with Troy Doucet over the telephone for yesterday for a telephone consultation regarding a potential issue that we were having. He was extremely forthcoming with information from the start and provided a game plan moving forward should the issue escalate. Since he provided me with information from our initial discussion to put my mind at ease during our call, I would have been more than happy to compensate him for his time. In the future I would not hesitate to contact Doucet and Associates for my needs.

The best defense against the bank had to be a good surprise attack. That is the conclusion I had reached in 2010, after countless hours spent at the Clintonville Chase branch, trying to clear what has since proved to be an artificial default, created by the bank the minute a missed one mortgage payment. It made no difference that I signed a repayment plan with Chase and complied with all of its terms and conditions: once a property has been earmarked for foreclosure, homeowners don't have a prayer. Banks will do everything, legally or not, to accomplish their goal of foreclosing. Negotiating with servicers in person or by phone is an exercise in futility: it yields only empty promises, stress and enormous headaches.
For the previous three years, I must have spent thousands of hours educating myself by reading everything I could on foreclosure, securitization, standing, MERS, you name it. And the more I read and the more confused I was, until it became absolutely clear that I was on my own, fighting alone an impossible battle against Goliath; the game was rigged, regulators weren't intervening, government wasn't interested and Congress wouldn't take action. Fortunately, I found a book, excerpts of which confirmed that someone understood my plight and could help me. That someone was Troy Doucet, a godsend located in Columbus Oh, who had recently published "23 Defenses to Foreclosure", had also recently graduated from law school and was making it his mission to help homeowners in distress. I contacted him, we met, we discussed strategy, we agreed on a plan of action and we have followed it ever since.
The rest is history. Literally. We lost in federal court, appealed, won our appeal, won a judgment and... I am still in the house. I recovered all the attorney fees I invested in that lawsuit plus statutory damages and I am more than ever ready to obtain complete victory against the bank. Good attorneys do exist. Fighting for justice does not have to be a life-or-death proposition and homeowners determined to go all the way can find help.
Don't wait to be in trouble to consult Troy. Do your homework. Get your documents in order. Decide what you want to accomplish. Define your strategy. Stay the course: you cannot lose. Do nothing and I promise you will lose. Do it alone and legal procedures will, in all likelihood, kill your case no matter how well thought out and long before you get to argue it pro se before a judge. "Life is either a daring adventure or it is nothing." (Helen Keller) Dare wisely. Dare with help. Troy is mine.

Our company has been working with Troy and his team for about 2 years now. We've dealt with lawyers in the past but none, I repeat NONE, have had the mix of law and business savvy that we needed when drafting our client contracts. When you're dealing with complicated, multi-year agreements as we do, a single mistake can cost you thousands and sometimes millions. We've been so impressed with the attention to detail personal touch he gives our matters that we wouldn't think of going anywhere else. The old adage holds true I suppose: You get what you pay for.
And I can attest, you'll get the best with Troy.
