Steve really came thru for me. I got a bad reckless driving charge 79/40. I got a long bad driving record with many priors including one prior suspension. This was in no way good news for me. Steve gave me a full battle plan and list of things to do. I really felt doing these things would help my case. However, i had surgery shortly after, went out of state, starting working long hours and overtime and overnights. I also closed on a home and had to deal with moving. I ended up not doing any of the assignments (not recommended). Somehow thru some miracle he got a plea bargain for me to drop the reckless to improper driving (not even speeding) and pay a fine. Absolutely incredible and despite everything going against me in this case, this lawyer came thru. His rate was more than fair too.

I got a Reckless Driving ticket in Prince William county, on the way home from OBX heading back to MD. It was about 3:45am I was going 91 in a 65. The officer pulled me over gave me a reckless driving ticket. I started freaking out as I found it was a Misdemeanor Charge and I’ve never been charged with anything before. Hell I’ve never got a speeding ticket before, called a few lawyers they all said “your going to jail, no way around it”. I called Steve and after one phone call he gave me a list of stuff to do before court. (26 hours community service, Speedometer calibration, MD Driving record, a few letters of recommendation). I was super nervous as I’ve heard people going to jail over this, so I completed everything Steve asked me to do. Arrived at court with all of my paperwork, got the Reckless Driving dropped to a speeding ticket of 87-65 with a 250$ fine and court costs. Compared to 2500$ and 12 months in jail I’d take my outcome 100% of the time.. I would 100% recommend Steve for any traffic or criminal defense. I would definitely hire Steve again.

my Son In Law got a reckless ticket from a PWC police officer for passing in a turning lane when it was not a turning lane. If you need a very good attorney that will truly work hard for the best possible outcome, Hire Steve Duckett. My case was not as interesting as some of the others I see in the reviews. I was charged with RD and there was no chance of getting it dismissed because my recent driving record wasn't pretty. I knew that and Steve agreed. The best I could hope for was a reduction to simple speeding. Steve told me the things I needed to do before my court date that would give him the best chance to negotiate a reduced charge. On the day of my hearing Steve took care of business and got the charges reduced. When I received a RD charge, I had no idea how involved it was. And understand, I was doing 94 mph in 60 highway corridor zone; this is worse than a RD charge (which is grave on its own). So if you are reading this, you may or may not know it involves the risk of jail and suspension of your VA driving privileges. Not to mention that the state of VA did not care I was racing to my sister who was in labor and this was my first reckless driving charge. Yeah, it was very serious. I had one lawyer tell me to expect at least a suspension of driving privileges, which I couldn't afford because my sister lives down here and I help her with child care on the weekends (my brother-n-law is deployed).

So needless to write, by the time I called Steve, I was near panic stricken. He was able to calm me and assure me that he could help while not diminishing the seriousness of the situation. He made time for me, told me what to expect and had some things for me to do to help mitigate the situation (which I followed to the letter!). When we got to court, I was still nervous and worried about my driving privileges. Steve was very nice and reassuring. He made me feel calm and hopeful. I cannot attest what Steve said to the prosecutor because the discussion was not done in my presence, but I got an amended charge; NO criminal misdemeanor!! This was particularly exciting because the norm in the PWC court was a 30 day suspended sentence for people with RD in my speed bracket. As a licensed provider in my state -- that may have hurt my career.

I will give you some advice: If you're on the fence about hiring a lawyer know that northern VA is very strict with RD esp. in Prince Williams County, Fairfax... You need to call Steve for sound advice. He's an honest guy and will look out for your best interest. He'll ask you to do a list of things before court, and you must do this for the best outcome. To not do it is like buying a mint condition Porsche, but not putting gas in the tank. Wouldn't get very far right?

Steve made this horrible experience bearable. I think I would have needed Valium without Steve; seriously.

I have known Steve for 30 years and he's always been a stand-up guy. He helped me with a traffic-related case a few years ago. As a result of his strategy, knowledge of the court system, and professional manner led to charges being dropped. I am truly appreciative of his work on my case.

I hired Steve Duckett back in Dec 2014 when I was charged with a DUI involved in a 3 cars accident. Without getting too specific, Steve pointed out a couple glaring mistakes that the officers made during the rest and was able to get my potential DUI charge to dismiss avoiding a lengthy license suspension and DUI on my record.
