For all of you who consider Maribel lafountane for immigration services let me tell you the story, I’ve been thinking to post this survey long time ago but no time:
I’m a person who came to the USA totally legal and after a while got married. Wife and I chose Maribel to be our attorney so we make sure all our paperwork is completely correct. I must say everything went smoothly and Maribel did a good job getting ready all paperwork. I paid her for service all upfront i think something was cash something was check, I think it was all about $3,500 I can’t remember it was long time ago, about 10 years. She did a great job preparing everything and then it came time for an interview with immigration services for a first green card together with my wife. Just before the interview Maribel called my wife to let her know that if she is going to the interview with us in Baltimore to represent us it will be additional charges of $1200 or $1700 something like that. Only for few hours. And of course my wife said No, in this case we will not need you to represent us, I remember making a comment like if she is going to come by helicopter from Rockville to Baltimore. Then we said okay just give us back all our paperwork copies and we will go on our own there is no need for attorney we are happily married, love each other and that’s it. Nothing to worry and hide.
Same day we supposed to go to the interview I stopped by her office to pick up our stuff and that was it.
Interview everything went with no problems.
Year or so after that we moved from state of MD and I needed to extend my status again for the second Gr... card and this is where I discovered what the person Maribel really is and what she did when we canceled her services years back.
We applied for extension and there was delay in the beginning. I became a little suspicious and tried to call immigration services to discover. Then we received post mail to go for interview again together with wife and bring additional evidence of our marriage. I said okay no problem we have a bunch of evidence but it bothered me because for the second interview is only applicant going not the spouse as well. However we went again, no attorney. Interview went good and after we finished everything I asked the officer why did this happen why did we come for another interview together and he said ‘oh that’s because your attorney who you hired put on the application file after you canceled her services that you are possible fake marriage couple. :) I didn’t believe what I hear we look at each other with the wife and can’t believe.
However few years back I got my citizenship but I’m writing all this just because of all inconvenience Maribel caused me. And this is for all of you who consider Maribel Lafountaine Law office.
