Joan Fine has been our family attorney for years, starting with my parents, and now handling all legal matters for my husband and me. Our business has retained Mrs. Fine on several occasions in the past and is our go to for legal counsel and real estate closings. PLEASE DO NOT use or call this attorney; Joan Fine. I do not know how she received the prior 5 stars from anyone or the public, please be advised.
I retained her on a simple, civil suit which the other party paid $49 plus expenses. Initially, she took a $1,500 retainer which I felt would handle all costs and she would easily appear and get the case resolved. During the initial meeting; months prior to the court date shae said "I will go to court for you and handle it" you're busy, dont worry. Within 1-2 weeks of initial court date, she called and said I should appear and be present. I met her and she could not defend a simple civil suit but realized she had an alternative motive. She suggested mediation to "milk" more time and costs. As a result and to my surprise the case was set for trial and she said it would require another $2,500 fee . With 3-4 months until the trial date, I figured she would do all of the legwork regarding the case. After 3+ months and 1 week prior to the trial, she contacted me on Monday and said she was working on the case. In other words, she took $2,500 3 months prior and started working against the cost 3 days before the trial date or roughly .03% of the $2,500 given. She did invoice for email response and call times, after a couple of emails, I realized that if I merely replied to her emails, she would bill me $75-$100 based on that.
When we went to the final trial, she still could not defend the case, I did most of the talking; out of disgust. The judge corrected her many times and I literally felt embarrassed for her. As a result, I paid her $4,650+ and she took full advantage of this. To add insult to injury, about 15-20 minutes after the 2nd trial, as I was driving on route 37, my cell phone beeped with an email and invoice for another $500+. Based on what she charged vs hours worked, confirmed rates are roughly $550-$600 per hour !!!

Joan brings extensive experience and knowledge to the table. She is determined to fight for her clients and have a successful conclusion to each case.
