I would NOT hire this man ever!!!! He does nothing to help. We had to give him all the information that he did nothing with.He will prolongs your case month after month so you are so mentally exhausted that you will accept a plea no matter if you are innocent to just be done with the nightmare!!!. He should be ashamed and should NOT be practicing law. !!! My opinion he is what is wrong with our judicial system he is THAT guy. I will make it my mission to let everyone know You are a waste of time and money !!!! You did more for the DA than your client and the sloppyness of the DA is a disgrace. To charge a young man for a he said she said situation when there was proof ??? And not go after the false accuser ??? That’s the crime!!! Stanislaw county is a joke and the DA and Doug Maner are LAZY and what is wrong with the system!!!! I will be filing a complaint with the state bar.!

Mr.Maner is a very good lawyer. My son was court appointed to him on some very bad charges. Mr. Maner went above and beyound to defend my son, he made sure that he did a full investigation on my sons case.i could not ask for a better lawyer. Mr.Maner is honest and to the point and someone you can trust thank you Mr.Maner for you hard work and dedication...
Mr Manor did a great job with my case . Did his homework , always stayed straight up with me about the case , and possibilities of my requests and wants . He went above and beyond to fulfill my families and my own , wants / needs . I highly recommend him .

I am fortunate in that the incident which led me to Mr Maner was not that serious, and to this day, I still have a clear record (no thanks to Mr Maner). After receiving some counseling from family members, I decided to hire a lawyer to represent me before a possible arraignment. Because Mr Maner had recently stopped being a career prosecutor (actually he was about to be fired but did not tell me), I had hoped that he would be able to speak with his former employer about my mistaken charge. His office was completely disheveled but he seemed on point and understood my situation. I attributed the clutter and disorganization to him starting out on a new career path as a defense attorney. Our contract was for one year. Fortunately, I was never charged but the conduct of Mr Maner during this time period after the first office visit was very distressing. Initially before signing our contract, he returned all phone calls and email promptly but after signing, he vanished. He said that he would be back in contact within about 10 days. Sadly, I did not hear from him until 44 days had passed by, and that, only after three emails and four phone calls went unanswered. To pay someone for a service and then not have them respond is obviously disheartening. I was also curious as to any research that Mr Maner might have done on my case and asked to see my file after about ten months (our contract was for one year, so this was well within that time frame). After numerous phone calls and emails all went unanswered, I finally dropped by his office personally, and was treated like a homeless hobo who needed to be pushed back onto the street (which to me was fairly amazing since I had been nothing but friendly up to that point). In fact, he could not even be bothered to interrupt his cell phone scrolling to acknowledge my presence at first. His part time secretary had to finally retrieve my file from the rubbish and stacks of files on his floor and when I looked at my file, it was the original three pages that I had given 10 months before. Not a single page had been added by him. In other words, I do not believe Mr Maner ever did anything to help benefit my case. And since the DA’s office in Modesto dropped my case, I never even needed to hire Mr Maner in the first place. Mr Maner is a former prosecutor who was about to be fired and then suddenly quit. He worked for about 22 years as an assistant district attorney for Stanislaus County and racked up numerous reprimands and demotions while in office. As such, Mr Maner thinks very much like a prosecutor, id est, …. he believes most of the people coming to hire him for their defense are already guilty. He is very much on the side of the State. Many people who might hire him probably are not aware that he really does not side with them or see their conditions from a more neutral point of view. That makes Mr Maner an eminently bad choice for defense if you are charged with a criminal act. In the end, I cannot recommend Mr Maner. I would not hire him to clean up dog poop in my backyard, much less represent myself or one of my family members if they were accused of a serious crime. At one of the most stressful times in my life, Mr Maner actually made my condition worse by his poor conduct and communication skills rather than helping to alleviate it. The only bonus to this sad incident is that I did later learn from others about some of the better attorneys in the Modesto area including Tai Bogan (middle of the road fees but good defense) and Kirk McAllister (high fees but very good defense). Whatever you do, …. do not hire Mr Maner. Terrible experience with the man, and I would not wish him on my worst enemy.
Mr Maner, I read your rebuttal below, but this same review here is also up at Yelp. And that review has a picture attached of the contract we signed to prove I am truthful. You did not tell me that you had been forced out at the DA's office under bad circumstances. I have notified the State Bar and Attorney General's office about your conduct in depth.
