Jim Theuer helped me navigate my position being eliminated and the next steps/terms. He made the legalese understandable and was extremely supportive. He made a scary and novel situation feel far less scary. I would absolutely recommend Jim Theuer to anyone looking for a knowledgeable attorney. He’s incredibly efficient and effective.

Unfortunately, I recommended this attorney to a family member. He like a lot of other attorneys in this area charge several hundred dollars an hour. He like other attorneys charge for every single thing he does. Minimum charge is 30.00 even if it only takes two minutes to read something or speak to you.. He does bill you once a month which helps with not having to pay a lump sum all at once. But he does not have the best pricing around, like I think I read in one review. He use to return phone calls, answer emails and questions in a timely manner. He seemed to be very pleasant, until we had an objection to how he handled part of our case. This attorney charged for services not received. When charges were challenged he became very belligerent. Stopped returning phone calls and refused to discuss billing concerns. He refused to turn over the information to help with the case we were paying him for. After several phone calls and emails, we finally got to speak to Mr. Theuer, to restate our concerns with the billing. We only got a few seconds to speak before he said "You signed a contract and if you don't pay it, I will send it to collections" Then abruptly hung up the phone before we were allowed to finish addressing the disputed charges. In my opinion this is not behavior becoming a person hired to help protect your rights.

01/15/18 Update: Everything I stated in this review is true. I have paid several invoices from this attorney and he has always received his payments on time. There were things charged for on the bill that I was charged for and never received. When trying to discuss the disputed charges, my calls stopped being returned and when I finally did speak to him to discuss the bill he told me he would send the account to collections and then abruptly huge up on me. Fortunately, I have a witness that heard the whole thing. I filed A complaint with the state bar and they set up mediation. When we finally, met, Mr. Theur's demeanor was very Intimidating. He did not give the mediator very much time to even try to conduct the meeting, before he got up and stormed out of the meeting. My mother who was seated in the waiting area, said he stormed by her and slammed the door upon his exit. However during the meeting, he threatened to sue me if I did not pay him and take down my review. This review is honest and I am entitled to my first amendment rights. I have be trying to negotiate with this attorney since I received my final invoice. I ultimately decided to terminate my contract with him because of the way I was treated because I had a dispute about some of the charges. Had he acted in a professional manor towards me, and was willing to address my concerns this dispute would have been settled a long time ago. I always pay my financial obligations, that is not what this is about. It is about being bullied and feeling superior to the client and feeling like a client does not have the right to question what they are being charged. Even tough I will be paying the bill, I will be filling another complaint with the bar and persue measures to get some of my money back for services that were definitely NOT RENDERED. I have never seen a lawyer display this type of behavior.

Mr. Theuer recently represented me in a class action suit. He always found the time to promptly respond to all the plaintiffs in a timely manner. Throughout the process he kept everyone informed and was realistic and honest when discussing the case with the class.
He was always prepared, professional and thorough when dealing with the court and defense attorneys. He is very experienced, and it showed. I would recommend Mr. Theuer to anyone looking for someone to represent them in legal matters.

Jim is without a doubt one of my top 3 lawyers to deal with. I've had some that cost $250 and some that have cost $30,000 and he was definitely in the top three if not #1. Very knowledgable yet personable and efficient. If you've got a contract or business related dispute he's your guy.

Even though my business is small, Mr. Theuer treated me as if I were his most important client. He spent time going over my questions and making process suggestions that I never would have thought of. He made sure that I understood everything as was very patient.

James Theuer combines an extraordinary level of skill with the best pricing around. He is the best unpaid overtime attorney in Norfolk, Virginia, and I would say he's the best overall employment lawyer here too.

He also has a great reputation for criminal defense matters in federal court.
