I bought property and needed a lawyer for closing. I was doing an out of state closing and was recommended by another attorney who wasnt available. When I called this office I spoke to the receptionist who was very pleasant and friendly. Explained my situation and asked if they were available to do the closing. I expected her to connect me to the lawyer or take a message but she responded that yes they could take care of it. I provided her with my email, name, 2 phone numbers, etc. This was my 1st time buying any real estate on my own and I thought it was odd that I didnt even speak to the attorney. I had doubts but I told myself it was a small real estate transaction and probably just a normal everyday thing for them. I gave my real estate agent the attorneys name address, email and phone #. We both tried to contact them by phone...always had to leave a message, and then email. 10 days before the closing I hadn't heard from anyone and had a few serious questions being a 1st time buyer that I would have loved to asked a lawyer. 2000 miles away from there and I had no lawyer, a fiance in the hospital and my life savings was all going to a piece of property that I fell in love with and really didnt want to lose.
I would have been ok with a phone call from the receptionist telling me she is sorry but we cant do the closing, and email or a text. I got not one call, email or text. Thanks to my wonderful real estate agent she got the sellers attorney to do my closing just in time. That office was wonderful, contacted me daily and answered all my questions.
