Even before I wisely decided to get my own attorney she was not available when my ex or myself attempted to contact her. I can with no doubt say this was to the detriment of my ex-husband's case because when I retained my own attorney the entire divorce changed it's tone. Now of course this is per my ex-husband, but she informed him that she would represent both of us in the divorce when we filed for uncontested. It is my understanding that there is absolutely zero way that she could give honest and beneficial advice to both of us when he came to her first and paid her because any helpful advice given to me would be against his best interests. She also did not seem to understand how to draw up a quitclaim (which I very much would have preferred to draw up myself because it would have been done in a timely manner) and demanded a copy of my deed, which I would have been happy to provide but did not have due to paperwork being removed from the home. She apparently claimed that the quitclaim simply could not be drawn up without the deed (Not true. At all. Not even a little.) My ex-husband's name was on this deed obviously and he was 100% capable of getting that himself, as was she if she had tried. Then she denied having received a copy of the warranty deed or any other communications from my attorney's office when my attorney secured a copy and sent it to her many days (when I received a screenshot of the email with the attachment it was nine days) prior. This nonsense could very well have led to my ex-husband being held in contempt of court for failing to execute the quitclaim in 10 days as per the MDA. I had to send the screenshot of the email with the warranty deed attached to my ex-husband, which I assume he presented to her, for her to begin doing anything.
She was not my lawyer, she was my ex-husband's lawyer and I may be somewhat biased by the awful experience that I had dealing with both her and my ex, but that does not take away from the fact that not only was she regularly unavailable, but she denied having necessary information to draw up documents her client was required to provide and also that the legal documents she filed with the court had ridiculous mistakes that made the frustrating and painful divorce that we were going through even more so. I have communications to show everything I've stated.
The craziest thing about it? She charged my ex-husband more than twice what I paid my lawyer. Find someone who won't make that difficult time worse for not just your ex, but your kids, wallet, and definitely yourself as well. SMH.
