The 12th day of August, 2016 is a day I’ll never forget…

I was involved in an accident, after having left a birthday get together for a friend in which alcohol was consumed. I was initially charged with a misdemeanor DUI and failure to maintain travel lane. About a week before I was supposed to go to trial, the State bumped the charges to DUI resulting in substantial bodily harm, a category B Felony, which carries a mandatory prison sentence if found guilty.

After doing some research and learning that DUI defense is an area that he specializes in, I made an appointment to meet Mr. Ogata and discuss my case. He was friendly and easy to talk to. His professionalism and expertise put me at ease, and I realized then and there that it was in my best interest to have him in my corner.

Through it all, Garrett T. Ogata has been by my side. Through all the hearings, arraignments, status checks, and sentencing, he has been my staunch advocate. He was always there to answer all my questions and to guide me through this whole ordeal.

In the end, Mr. Ogata was able to negotiate a favorable plea agreement with the State to avoid a trial and possible imprisonment. I was allowed to plead guilty to felony reckless driving and receive probation instead. Also as part of the plea deal, the State agreed to not oppose allowing me to withdraw my plea to felony reckless driving and instead plead guilty to misdemeanor reckless driving and receiving credit for time served, after an honorable discharge from probation. After successfully completing probation and a court appearance to reduce the charge, I walked out of Court with my attorney, Garrett T. Ogata, and with the felony permanently removed from my record.

Garrett Ogata is impeccable. I was falsely arrested for a DUI charge back in 2015 after I took a wrong turn and ended up in a small town outside of Las Vegas. The arresting officer filed a report which was from top to bottom nothing but vile, discusting lies. We went to trial where Mr. Ogata took on a career prosecutor and smoked him in a dazzling display of court room prowess. I recieved an acquittal and was exonerated of any charge. Recently I rear ended a car in a chaotic traffic mess while trying to evade a car about to rear end me. I made the mistake of having a coffee and Bailey's with dinner ten minutes from home. I weigh 150lbs and that put me over the limit, apparently. There was an injury claim and I was looking at a possible felony. Very scary!!! Garrett fought hard and kept that from happening. My insurance covered everything and I have to have an interlock device installed in my car for a year which is an accident waiting to happen in of itself according to a retired HP Lieutenant I know and boy is he right. It's been 2 years since I've closed my case with Mr. Ogata. I still get the chills thinking about the hell I went through and all the uncertainty I had regarding the outcome of what my case was going to be at the time. The day I went to get sentenced, even the judge himself made a comment saying, "Your attorney Mr. Ogata did an outstanding job getting you this deal for the severity of your case" .... Even though, days prior to my sentencing hearing, Ogata wanted me to pay off my entire bill prior to my final hearing. I said hold on a second, I signed an agreement to pay monthly payments, in which I was paying religiously and had not defaulted once in the 5 months I had been with him. We ended up getting into a very intense argument, where he started screaming at me and I yelled back at him saying how incorrect he was for doing this to me. I completely understand where he was coming from though, I know 9 times out of 10 people wont pay anything after his services are completed.... after I finished my sentence, I had 3 or 4 months left of $500 payments. He was harassing me every single week, yelling at me and saying all types of things to get me to finish my payments. If I had the money, I would have paid him off. But I'm just a student working as a cashier so those monthly payments were all I could afford. In the end, i only paid him 2 months of the 3 or 4 I owed. And I think I had left with an outstanding bill of $500 or $1000 because he gave me a nightmare and was down right being rude to me about my payments when I had been holding my end of the bargain..... all in all, when you hire Mr. Ogata as your attorney, rest assured that the job will get done. Hes an old dog in Las Vegas, hes very respected in this city, and the man will fight to get you the absolute best deal money can buy. Just make sure you pay the man off prior to your final hearing, he will give you hell if you dont! And I guess he has good reason too, hes a damn good attorney!!

Etrremely unprofessional from him personally to billing and poor office staff. He was late to court. Poor communication. Went to a scheduled court date with no communication. He never showed sent another lawyer but never told me i didnt need to be there. Lost a days worth of work. He cost me alot more then just his fees. Went to court paid the fine gave him a copy of receipt to close the case. A month later his office called asking for the receipt. Do yourself a favor find a different lawyer.

My experience with Mr. Ogata and his staff went very well. Mr. Ogata is a very sharp professional in his field of work. He was able to help me when I was facing charges relating to a DUI and charges from a car accident (separate cases) that would have landed me some serious jail time. He also recommended a personal injury firm that is working on a case against the vehicle manufacturer.
