At first she was good, but went through some "personal problems" and became worthless. I had to do all the work to get my (and my gf's) case discharged. On my case a debtor is telling me that their debt is not discharged, I asked Amy to deal with it and she told me she does not feel she is in a position to fight the discharge ability of the debt. Which is basically the debt I wanted discharged. She cost my GF a car as well by not returning any phone calls to the creditors. All in all we are out about $15 grand post bankruptcy because she does not do what she's paid for. Her license to practice law is also on probation (I am assuming its because she does this to everyone). UPDATE 2/1/19 She actually has the balls to have her billing company contact us to try to collect when she knows she did not do anything but hurt us.. good thing she did not have me sign a new agreement for the new cases so I just told the company the debt was discharged in the new cases, and if I have to ill pay another attorney to reopen one and actually include it.

Do not use her! No matter what! She doesn’t do her job. Took our money and never heard from her until we got a paper in the mail saying our bankruptcy was dismissed!!! Stay away far far away!

Amy has been nothing but professional and efficient with my case. I was going through a hard time financially and had to file a chapter 13. I called her office and began working with her. Amy told me what I had to do, answered my questions, and stood for me in court. I am now out of my bankruptcy and its all thanks to Amy. I would recommend her to anyone!

She DOESN'T DO HER JOB. First time i filed she didn't file my paperwork in time saying I didn't give the paperwork but when they checked their email they found the paperwork that was sent to them a month prior when that was discovered they still didn't turn it in on time. I could never get a hold of anyone by phone or email. After a second time filling i advised her from the start that i am disabled so i wont be able to go to court so when the 341 meeting was scheduled she didn't let the courts know so it looked like i just didn't show so it was dismissed again. She said she would file an appeal but that was never done and i could never get a hold of her again.

Warning!!!!! Do not use this lawyer!! Doesn't look out for your best interest only cares about getting your money when she knows you don't have much that's why you're there. Filed 2 bankruptcies when I never should have filed. I got advice from 2 other lawyers and both said the same thing!

Do not trust this attorney. She initially filed for me in November of 2016! (Yes, a year ago!) and has not been honest for one day since then. She has given me incorrect and harmful misinformation time after time. If any complication arises such as a car wreck which results in the vehicle being totalled, as happened with me, she will be a hindrance. She has no interest in helping people get back on their feet and resolve their financial issues; rather she drags things out, misses deadlines, lies to the client and placates with false promises.
She ignores texts, emails, and doesn't show for appointments. After over 60 days of trying to get information ot of her I finally got an appointment set up via a gentleman I had never spoken to prior. I even called to confirm the meeting but Amy did not show. I called to ask where she was and spoke with the same gentleman who made the appointment. He acted quite embarrassed and said he would contact her right away. She called me and had the nerve to say she thought it was a phone meeting. What?!? She has an excuse for everything. Does not know the answer to basic financial questions and will not take the time to find them. Emails are no longer "lost" in this digital world. She is just too lazy and uncaring to respond.
She will hold back your financial recover while pulling in any money via the court that she can. Run! Do not walk away from Amy Butters!
I am filing an official complaint against her with the US Trustees and strongly suggest all those who have suffered at her poor work do the same. She needs to be stopped from hurting thise who are already suffering financially and trying to recover in as positive and accountable way as can be done.

I failed to make my meeting in court and my case was dismissed. I had paid in over $400 to pay off creditors. The money was sent to her and she will not give it back. So not only is she a bad lawyer, nut a thief as well.

Showed up to court and she hadnt filed all the paperwork. ABSOLUTELY NO COMMUNICATION. I am sitting here in the bank waiting for my emailed proof of my 341 meeting with the creditors and cannot get a response. Oh yeah i first contacted her assistant a day and a half ago asking about this. If you have money to put down on a lawyer go somewhere else..BTW in 3 months i have never seen, spoken, or heard from Amy herself. Its always her assistant..and her assistant hates you btw she makes that very clear..i could write soooooo much more but im using my phone.

The only reason she gets one start is because they made me click a star. We hired Amy and I can honestly say this was the biggest mistake we had ever made. Our experience was a complete nightmare. We've been working with her for over a year. She had asked us for the same documents multiple times that we had already given her. When we showed up to court she didn't turn in paperwork on time so they had to reschedule us months later. She didn't call us back promptly or keep us updated on what was going on. She also NEVER notified us that the courts had raised our payments. We found out when we went to make a payment it went up over $100. After our second court date we thought everything was finalized correctly and just went on with our life. Months later we received a notice from the court that they were dropping our case because she didn't file ROUTINE paperwork. She had a small time frame to turn it in and SHE DIDNT. They dismissed our case and she told us she would take care of it. We received notice that she put in a motion to vacate the dismissal and she assured us everything was ok. Then we received notice that there was another court date and she told us we didn't need to go and she would take care of it. We called her after the supposed court date and she told us we would receive notice everything was back in place and we were good to go. WELL 2 days after that phone call we got a letter from the courts stating our case was PERMANENTLY dismissed because SHE DIDN'T SHOW UP TO COURT. We have tried to call her multiple times to resolve this issue. Her assistant answered and said Amy doesn't know why they dismissed our case. THE PAPERWORK CLEARLY STATES SHE DIDN'T SHOW UP TO COURT. She has not returned any of our phone calls. Her assistant offered for them to refile our case for free. Since then we tried to call numerous times. But guess what. STILL NO PHONE CALL BACK from their office. Now we have to spend more money and hire a new lawyer. We never missed a payment with the court. We did everything right on our part besides hiring her. We were on track to buy a house this fall and that went right out the window and it will be another year or so before we will be able to start looking for a house. I am just completely shocked at how anyone could have such a horrible experience with a lawyer. I hope that no one else ever has to go through what we went through.

Very unprofessional. When I went in for consultation they were talking crap about multiple customers and other business associates. Amy charges way too much as well. She is a bad person and gives lawyers the bad reputation that they have. Good lawyers do exist. I would recommend Richards law. Affordable, professional and experienced. Good luck and many blessings!

Amy is very knowledgeable and gave me excellent advice. She treated me with respect and understanding. It's hard to trust someone with intimate details of your life, but Amy made it easy and effortless. She is wonderful.

I went through Amy for my bankruptcy. I couldn't afford the cost of a court fee so I called her and asked her what I should do about it. She never got back to me. After it was dismissed I still needed to re file and thought I should go through Amy again. I called over 20 times in a month as well as emailed her a few times. I never heard back. I decided to go through another lawyer and have gotten such great service from this new lawyer I didn't even see with Amy. It is horrible.

Was great at the beginning but now they do not return calls, emails etc. I almost got my case dismissed because they did not get my 2012 tax return into the trustees office. I took the initiative to get it completed myself to avoid dismissal.

Very affordable, professional, and honest. They will help you with whatever they can, and will always make sure to be honest about your situation whether its good or bad. Sometimes that's just what you need!

Great bankruptcy attorney in Layton. Handled my case with plenty of care and it really was a pleasure working with them.
