Russ Harvingsten was really responsive and great at first, but as he stopped responding and being available I sought a second opinion from another attorney. This attorney advised me that Russ hadn't been truthful with me and had done everything he could to maximize his profits from me. Example: attending hearings that weren't necessary to cash-in on an appearance fee
Upon taking me case, the new attorney found motions filed with the court and documents relevant to my hearing that were never shared with me. Russ kept me in the dark to make himself look better and misrepresented the situation with my custody to me.
I had to pay a huge retainer to have him help me, and even more money to receive help that I never received and responses I asked for but never got.
I am sure there are plenty of other great lawyers at this office, but Russ is not one of them. I would save your money and seek counsel from anyone else but him.

Camille Mackay is amazing. She is currently helping me through a divorce that has been nothing less than a nightmare. I thought I had done my research when I found my first attorney. Thousands of dollars later I realized my mistake. I am still paying for that mistake. Thankfully I fired attorney number one and was lucky enough to find Camille. She has slowly but surely been working out the mess of things that my first attorney left me in. I only wish that I would have found her first. Her rates are reasonable and she is very easy to talk to. She is super smart and I am very confident in her abilities. When you are going through what has to be one of the worst times in your life you need someone by your side that you can trust. I trust Camille Mackay. It is so important for the outcome of your case and your bank account to make the right choice in attornies from the very beginning. I hope I have helped someone else to make that decision.
If you’re looking for an excellent, caring, well communicative, trusting, strong Attorney. Camille Mackay is the best, I can’t say enough good things about her. She went above and beyond, took care of everything and made this experience easy and stress free for me. Highly recommend!

Spencer Ricks was amazing! I hired him to modify my very unfair divorce decree. Mediation had to come first and the mediator he chose, the hospitality, genuine concern about staying on subject and getting it done rather than just running up the bill was beyond excellent. If you’re looking for a lawyer who cares, stays focused, and won’t lead you in the wrong direction Spencer Ricks is your guy!

Brad was absolutely amazing to work with. My ex paid $2000 in lawyer fee's and Brad only charged me $400. He and his team were consistent on communication and any issues I had he resolved in a great timely manner. Other lawyers I went to were trying to charge me $2500 in a retainer fee for an EASY divorce. We did not even go to mediation. You want an honest lawyer who won't rip you off I highly recommend Brad 100%

Update: Woodall refuses to represent the client that he says gave him a 5star review in his response to this. If you want a evil attorney. Then you found the right place
Woodall was sued for fraud and has changed his business name multiple times in an attempt to hide from all the bad reviews that he consistently receives. If you are looking for an extremely greedy attorney that will do anything for money, this is the place.

We have had two great experiences with Brad Carr.
He is easy to work with and cares about his clients. He even traveled to southern Utah for a hearing! We will not hesitate to use him again if the need arises.
The other case was dealing with my parents and the state bulling them to admit something that they did not do. Brad knew what to do in this case and realize what was happening and insured my parents was taken care of and wasn't being manipulated by the state. Brad stepped up to the plate and play hard ball in their behalf. Thank you Carr/Woodall

Not to mention he was there for all the emotions stemming from the experience and he had my hack every step of the way. I had a very challenging divorce both mentally and geographically. Spencer was still able to get me EXACTLY what I asked for in the beginning and did it in sheer fashion. Very impressed with the firm and specifically Mr. RIcks. Thank you guys again for helping a single father get 50/50 custody of his first and only son. My heart couldn't Thank you enough. I recently went through an intense custody situation I thought I could handle on my own , at the last minute felt it was best that I hired an attorney. Not knowing anything about where to start or what to look for in an attorney and worrying about how much it was going to cost, I was referred to Camille Mackay at Carr Woodall. When I met with her, I instantly knew I was in good hands. She didn’t hesitate to take on my case & the fight she put up for me when it came to certain things made me feel that she wasn’t just there to “do her job” I felt like she was doing what she would do if she were in my shoes. She helped me resolve a matter that I thought was going to drag on forever. I can definitely say I am satisfied with her service & outcome of the situation. I will recommend her to anyone in need & call her again if I need anything myself.
Thank you, Camille! You’re truly appreciated.

Image of Spencer Ricks contract. In Utah, there is no State supervision of attorneys because the "Utah State Bar" is actually a fraudulent, private organization funded by the same attorneys it pretends to supervise. There is no "The Utah State Bar" it's real name is "Utah State Bar" and it is not supervised or funded by the State of Utah. "Utah State Bar" claims it is a non-profit but it is not staffed by volunteers either. Call your state representative, congressman and whoever else you can if this makes you uncomfortable (which it should make you very uncomfortable because it's been going on for decades and apparently no one knows yet. Not even the Dean of the SJ Quinney College of Law. Seriously.)
This example of Spencer Rick's "family law" contract with me is a good indication of Utah's broken family law crisis. Apparently "scribble" is one of the main courses taught at S.J Quinney and condoned by Carr Woodall too. I should have seen Ricks furious pen scribbling back and forth and back and forth as a red flag but like all Utah family law attorneys he was coached in recognizing vulnerability in a parent and trained to exploit that to the tune of thousands of dollars.
Spencer Ricks (Formerly of Just Law in Holladay, Utah) ignored critical emails which could have resulted in definitive action that would have brought productive results for everybody. After several weeks, when he did finally return an email, it was only to demand $2000 for what he called an "enforcement action" when in reality it was just an "Order to Show Cause" (also known as an "OSC") that should have been around $600 to prepare and appear for. As gut wrenching as this was to experience, it's because of Ricks, that I've gone on to help many, many others see how "Utah State Bar" is a fraud, how the "Utah Office of the Court Administrator" creates loopholes crooked attorneys like Ricks use to exploit vulnerable parents, how that same office allows clerks to stack hearings on top of each other so attorneys can bill hundreds of extra dollars for sitting around waiting for a few minutes of actual courtroom time, how that same office allows courtrooms to sit vacant day after day so attorneys can add monthly retainer fees even though no work is being done and how judges perpetuate the whole broken system from the bench with ex parte communication, collusion and deal making. In Utah, there may be a few good attorney's who have bucked the system and are striving for change for the better but Ricks demonstrated many times he is not one of them. Not many are.
The purpose of a family law attorney's in Utah is to do what they are trained to do which is sign you to a contract, then eventually pretend they are doing things for months (or years) by appearing for exploitative hearings, then eventually colluding with a mediator to settle in mediation. (So you know, the attorneys are also getting kickbacks from the mediator they agreed on...that's partly why mediation is also hundreds of dollars an hour)
After I cut loose of Rick's exploitation of me, he still billed me a monthly retainer over a week later. I was then forced to handle two pre-trial conferences and the trial on my own and ended up with what I hoped for: Joint Legal and Joint Physical custody. This gives us both the chance to be parents or not be parents. Sadly, it wouldn't take much for the State to simply legislate that custody starts at 50/50 but I'll leave it up to you to determine why the state and it's broken, attorney friendly legislatures continue to ignore public requests to legislate that...
In the interest of your little ones, before you retain any of the unsupervised, 6,500 attorneys in Utah, sit down and think about what you two are really getting into. If you really need a legal document, find a simple mediator first. Most mediators are also attorneys unfortunately because the state still allows it but they should be able to file a document for you. Tell them what you now know. You'll save enough to pay for your kids college instead of some crooked attorneys "scribble" habit.

Their is a lawyer that's going against my woman in a divorce case, just jumped ship and supposedly is working for this firm now, isnt that a conflict of interest??? We have recently asked for emails to be returned by the secretary and nothing, shes ignoring both our emails and isnt it ironic that the attorney that is against us on the quadro is now on the same team (carr/woodall) who we paid to get it done .....we yet have heard anything about the quadro (updates) and are not happy guess my first impressions were wrong we thought these guys were good lawyers I asked the secretary to send me a lawyers info cuz I wanted to retain one and she still has not gotten back to me. The lawyer that just joined with these guys has tried to make my woman look like nothing in court and we are not happy. This firm should really look into the lawyer they just hired because it is a conflict and the judge will know this. Update 7/9/19- my fiance looked into her papers (qadro) getring filed these guys( carr and woodall) told her theyd get it sent in . She called and they said today they never recieved copy infact they sre making her send it in. So we paid these guys to do the qadro and it never got done. So not only did they take our money they hired a conflict of interest attorney to handle all this against her (spencer ricks)....he is working for an opposing defendant and now working for the same firm my fiance is doing quadro against him....hmmmmm think about that one. No wonder nothing is getting done hes not allowing it to get done. Crooked stay away from these guys and Spencer Ricks.

One of CARR, WOODALL's Attorney's recently handled my Divorce. Spencer Ricks was my legal council to end a 14 year marriage. The divorce was extremely difficult on me and my children. Spencer was absolutely amazing, he seemed more family than a lawyer. He was quick to answer any questions that arose, and always gave me a perspective that seemed to calm my nerves and worries. He explained the divorce process, legal precedents, and the mediation process. He was a rock for me during this turbulent time. Mediation was extremely stressful, but again Spencer was a rock. He was unshakable, provided information that my ex-wife had left out of her declarations at the precise moment to have maximum effect. To say I was happy with how everything went would be an understatement. While I didn't get everything, I feel like I came out in my favor. I alimony had been minimized, and child support and custody were very fair. The cherry on top was that I got to keep my entire pension, and retirement accounts for the most part. Spencer is well versed in assisting military through family issues, and divorce. I credit this expertise as a big reason that things went so smooth. I have been approached by multiple co-workers going through a divorce, or worrying that their marriage may be moving that way for his name and how to get in touch with him. I will continue to refer people who ask about my divorce to him, because I believe in his methods, and the results that he was able to deliver. I feel as though divorce is rigged against fathers, but Spencer was able to level the playing field. I cannot recommend him highly enough.

It doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman or what backroynd you come from Brad is not only an incredible attorney but also a family man with strong ethics. Brad Carr is good & he helped at the end of my divorce and worked with me in the capacity I needed/requested. Jay Woodall, on the other hand, despite being extremely bright and knowledgeable and experienced, didn't ever engage with me as my advocate to fight for my rights, and instead of being strategic and proactive and a bulldog, we were always playing defense and he never really fully engaged & he kept telling me I should stop fighting & just accept the horrible settlement we had worked out so I did. In the 4 years since, I've met many fathers who were in a similar situation as me in terms of #s of kids & earnings etc, & NONE of them pay anywhere near the amount of monthly alimony & child support I pay, nor do any of them have some of the funky one-sided clauses in their decrees that attorneys since have told me are horrible for me & very one sided. I needed someone to help strategize for me & protect my financial and custody interests, but Jay honestly seemed more interested in helping me to accept defeat & move on in a "healthy" way & stop fighting. NOT what I was paying him for & NOT what I needed as an advocate to protect my legal interests in divorce.

He was always quick to answer questions and available for advice through phone calls as well as e-mail. If you are looking for an attorney who cares and knows the law, you will want to call Jay Woodall.

Attorney Brad was very helpful and answered my questions after hours. It was a hard decision. The tenants had been friends, but stopped paying the rent and had many excuses. Brad told me about several options but stressed that if they were already one month behind it wasn't likely that they would ever get caught up. Cindy the office manager was great to work with after I decided what to do after speaking with Brad. They kept me informed and helped to make a bad situation less bad. I would say for the money it was well worth the effort.
Very solid and skilled advice. Highly recommended if you need to evict a tenant.

Camille Mackay is amazing. She helped me reach my goal in both my divorce and custody cases. She is aggressive in just the right way and extremely compassionate towards her clients. I never had to come up with own solutions, she just knew my goals and was extremely resourceful in getting to them. Camille always took the time to talk to me on the phone and listen to all of my concerns. She returned all of my emails or phone calls the same day, no matter how late it got. I needed an attorney who would be aggressive in the process but at the same time sensible to the case matter. Both of my cases needed an extra amount of tactfulness but also and extreme amount of drive to move forward into the direction I desired. Camille brought both of those trades to the table and exceeded my expectations. On a personal level, I felt that I was in protective hands with Camille and she saw to it that I didn’t settle on anything I didn’t really want to agree to. Furthermore, during mediation, she helped me understand that I had more control over the situation than I thought and helped me stand my grounds. Both outcomes were more than I could have hoped for, and while that is not necessarily possible for everyone, with Camille, you’ll get the best outcome possible.
I am recommending her to anyone that is seeking aggressive, yet compassionate and strategic legal representation in divorce and custody matters.

Camille Mackay has been amazing with my divorce! She is very easy to get a hold of and responds quickly to my texts. She is very on top of everything, and gets things done super fast! She also is very reasonable as far as payments go. She will work with what you can do and what you are comfortable with. I highly recommend her! Thanks for everything Camille!

I was referred to Camille McKay at Carr Woodall for my divorce. Camille went above and beyond for me. Phone meetings within a day of my request, with amazing support and encouragement, as well as making me feel like I was being heard and my specific concerns and needs were addressed. Camille cares about clients as human beings, and never makes you feel like just another client. In addition to everything else, her fees are very reasonable and affordable. My divorce was a very difficult one, but with Camille as my Lawyer, this process was as smooth and painless as I ever could have hoped for. Truly an amazing experience.

Camille MacKay did the impossible twice in one day. I now have custody of my two children and a bifurcated divorce. Through the entire process has been rough, Camille made me feel like I was the most important client for the firm. She prepared all paperwork and filed everything before each day in court. Her preparedness on the case won over and over again.

Brad is the best family law attorney in Utah! I interviewed dozens of attorneys by phone and in person before choosing Brad. Not only is he extemely well versed and experienced in family law but he is very friendly and personable.
If you are looking for a really good attorney who won't overcharge you and cares more about you and your case than just collecting an hourly rate, you need to contact Brad! Hands down the best attorney!

I had spent thousands of dollars on another attorney, and still had no results. I went to Jay at CARR Woodall and with in weeks he resolved all the damage my previous lawyer caused. Jay is focused, reliable, intelligent, honest, and gets results. He cost a fraction of what my previous attorney cost, and was 3x more affective. I am forever grateful for Jay (James Woodall). I hope to never need the assistance of an attorney again, but I find peace knowing that I have Jay in my corner.

I'm not a type of person who leaves a review of any kind. However, I thought this is something some people may find helpful. I would not hesitate to recommend Attorney Brad Carr for Divorce and or Child custody issues to anyone. He is knowledgeable, easy to work with and more importantly responds back within a day. He really works for you not just for the pay.

I will forever be grateful for Mr. James Woodall and his staff at Carr/Woodall. In transitioning the experience of an ever changing world, I seek professionals not only for their experience, but also their ability to understand my personal situation. Mr. Woodall is a professional in every single way. I require someone who will listen to my questions (and I come with many!), be patient, and provide answers in words I understand. Mr. Woodall is that someone. My circumstances require respect with addiction and my journey to achieve soberity. I had a very complicated case involving child custody, long distance visitation and a spouse that showed zero respect for myself & my soberity. Mr. Woodall was my saving grace. As cheesy as it may sound, my angel. He's an expert in all areas. At our hearings, I was very proud of Mr. Woodall and his determination of taking the higher road. Despite my desire at times to "throw mud", he stuck to the plan of taking the higher road and instead showed why I was the better parent. He's one of the most ethical attorneys you've ever met. Patient, professional, bright and most importantly compassionate. Mr. Woodall gave me more than just legal advice, he gave me back my self-respect, my life and my children. He always had my best interest first. If life's highs and lows call for legal help, please consider Mr. James Woodall. You will NOT be disappointed. I know how hard it is to find a good hard working attorney. It's emotionally, physically, and financially stressful. Trust me, I know this! Mr. Woodall coached me through this process and I walked away with my dignity still in tact. I will forever be grateful for Mr. Woodall.

Brad Carr was amazing. He filed my divorce a few months back and did an incredible job at a great price. A few days ago I called him and needed some legal documents collected and sent to me in California. He went out of his way during his lunch break, collected all the necessary papers and next day aired them to me. Who does that anymore? Thanks Brad.

Mr. Woodall was excellent to work with. Jay helped me navigate a divorce and custody dispute that looked like was going to be a 5 year drawn out fight, but went to trial in about 2 years. Jay is short and to the point and isn't manipulated. Jay knows what issues are worth fighting for and what to let go, helping me stay focused instead of getting swept up into fear. Unfortunately for my opposing party you have to have proof(you can't just lie) to get orders put in place, which is why he has been unable to successfully appeal any of our orders.
Mr. Murray was my original attorney and within a barrage of emails recieved from my opposing party john accidentally gave my apposing party a single suggestion about a possible bankruptcy. My opposing party threatened to file a bar complaint about giving legal council to an opposing party so my attorney felt it best to withdraw and hand over the case to Mr. Woodall. Otherwise Mr. Murray was an excellent attorney and I enjoyed working with him.

I am so grateful for the expertise and finesse with which James Woodall called upon in my complex divorce settlement agreement. Mr. Woodall secured an optimal custody agreement and he saved me worry, time, and money. I feel so fortunate to have had him navigate such a difficult legal labyrinth. I have so much respect for Mr. Woodall. Thank you Jay!

I felt I was working with a professional the whole time who would give me the best of care, while also being accessible as a human being. I won't go anywhere else for legal counsel and will recommend him to anyone. I should also mention the office staff are also friendly and gave great service as well.

Thank you so much Brad!!!!!
I was on the ropes in my divorce, was not able to afford an attorney. Camille took my case and was willing to work with me on payments.
Within 2 weeks my divorce was done and I came out in better than good shape.
I cannot praise Camille enough she knows what to say to you to help ease the process and make sure that you come out of a divorce in good shape. I would absolutely have her as my attorney again.
Thank you Camille
Woodall was sued for fraud and has changed his business name multiple times in an attempt to hide from all the bad reviews that he consistently receives. If you are looking for an extremely greedy attorney that will do anything for money, this is the place.
Thank you, Camille! You’re truly appreciated.
Straightforward, but you can tell he genuinely cares about people. Strongly recommend!
Spencer cares deeply about his clients and it shows. He is a dedicated and hard worker. I'll continue to refer friends to him in the future.
Brad represented me in my child custody case about a year I got full custody after two years of referrals to CPS and Social workers and police safety checks including a protective order after I had gotten my girls from Utah ad took them to California. The first time in Court Brad was very prepared to say the least he had phone book sized exhibits qnd has a very strong presence in court I was very impressed and could see that I was very lucky to have found this attorney who I now consider a friend. It doesn’t matter if you are a man or woman or what backroynd you come from Brad is not only an incredible attorney but also a family man with strong ethics. I almost lost my kids and my Career but Brad was in my corner and through a very nasty custody battle he kept kind and decent and I trust him.
If you love your children hire him You have got to see this man in court it’s impressive!!
