Day 1 of meeting. His secretary was yelling at another client (he didn’t schedule an apt, but he was simply dropping something off for a signature) this woman belittled this man right in front of us (new clients) and there was a little bit of confrontation. Ok - still we didn’t want to judge this firm by his secretary, however even my husband was like if you let someone treat your clients like that, it’s not a good sign. We met with David, and he was nice, and reassured us he can come up with a solution.
A month went by, mind you it was during the holidays so I do understand some delay, however there was no communication whatsoever, left things open ended and even after paying him he provided estimated numbers. I missed one call from him, I called right back and he wasn’t available. When I called, his secretary had no clue who I was, so I had to explain my situation all over again, she didn’t know David had called me and left a message and again I had to explain he wanted to talk but I honestly felt like she didn’t care about us whatsoever. Several times she told us he’d call us back and never did. I had to call back every time and explain my situation over again to her. I finally got ahold of David and he again gave me estimated numbers over the phone so
I paid his to essentially plug some numbers in on a calculator and guess. He provided me less than favorable options at this point, but we decided to meet in person so I can better understand. I did have to reschedule the second meeting for two days later and in the meantime I spoke to another attorney who promised he was able to do what David said couldn’t be done. I decided to cancel our meeting and had to eat $500. Like he promised this other lawyer is on top of his game, and I was able to do exactly what I was hoping for! Definitely shop around and go with your gut. He’s not a bad guy, but at the end of the day if you let your secretary treat clients with 0 respect, 0 remorse, and doesn’t even know his clients or cases says a lot about a firm.
