if you are ever in need of legal advice concerning landlord tenant issues this is the place to go to. They gave me a lot of very helpful information. thanks to the information provided by then I was able to win the case against my landlord. I found out my landlord does not have a renters license and now I am able to stay in my house rent-free! I could not believe how foolish my landlord was, when I was late one month with the rent they took me to court. The judge told her that she has no renters license and therefore is under able to collect rent from me. I live in a nice house and I have not paid rent in 7 months. Thanks to the information provided to me by this great organization.

In my 7 years of renting, I've never had to seek legal action against a landlord before but after some searching I came upon TURN. I went to one of their Saturday workshops and someone named Carla was able to talk with me through my problem. Really solid advice and I feel a lot better about next steps I need to take against my landlord. Can't recommend them enough!

If you have a problem with your Landlord and you can't figure out just what to do, give T.U.R.N. a call. As a Tenant, you need to know your rights, as well as the Landlord; plus there are NEW laws that need to be known. Attend one of their conferences that are held in the conference room, where you will be with other tenants who are having some of the same issues and have them answered. For further important information, schedule to have a meeting with one the many excellent Counselors.

Illegitimate union. They emphasize anti American free market principals and anti-business narratives. You know, The very things of which bring investments into a city. I guess their Wakanda with crack houses is all to advanced of a society to be infiltrated by "corporate whitey".

this group has heard all our complaints, and yes people with questions they hear every day means we have 1 month and 2 ears, listen twice as much as you want to talk.. when you call BE NICE, they have great answers.

I hate that there's no parking except for the 30 min loading. I found out the hard way that before 930 am you cant park there AT ALL! $76 ticket cuz my appt was at 9. Smh.

I went to 2 TURN sessions, followed by 1 one-on-one session, regarding a landlord-tenant issue I'm having. The first session was led by an attorney who's also TURN's director. The second session was led by an employee of TURN named Jo, who also did my follow-up one-on-one session. Jo gave me wildly different information than the director did, was patronizing, and seemed far more interested in highlighting out how I screwed up (although I already knew) than in providing clear advice. This happened in her group session too, with a man there seeking help on a boarding house issue (he left the session when all she said was that he made a bad choice, giving no info on his rights.) I'm still unclear as to where I stand in this landlord-tenant issue. Gotta say, I'd never use TURN again, based on this experience.

Edited to add: The information No provided about the Certificate of Rental Suitability was grossly inaccurate. The City of Philadelphia 's ordinance clearly states that a landlord must provide the Certificate before the tenancy starts, no more than 60 days *prior*. Jo misled me by saying the landlord has 60 days *after*. I can't believe this happened. Never using TURN again.

Great service

A friend introduced me to TURN by inviting me to attend their tenants' rights workshop. It's free and you can speak with a counselor afterwards or schedule an appointment. I scheduled an appt. and spoke with Phil Lord, who I thought could not be more informed, helpful, patient, a good listener. Weeks later I called for clarification as to my "action plan", and again received the same helpful professionalism. Can't imagine there's a better resource in Philly for renters.

This is a review that is based on meeting with a different counselor than before. I went back for clarification and it sounds like I managed to get the same counselor as Ms. Kress this time. She was rude and kept interrupting me and because her mind was made up based on the limited info I managed to relay, she gave her personal opinion which was not sound or based on the facts. Re being harassed by a slumlord's tenant from hell, she categorized it as a case of clash between personalities (that's life!). Nope. Leases all have implied habitability - tenants are entitled to "peaceful enjoyment" of their rental. Harassment and privacy invasion by another tenant negate this. A poor listener, so this counselor makes incorrect assessments. Their counselors are not all created equal.

Have your questions ready, they're busy. Disposition was informative, dry & patient.

Went to an evening "session" . consisted of a moderator and 1 other client that really needed her hand held. I felt like I didnt get ANY of my questions or MAJOR concerns dealt with bc the other client took the moderator hostage. Originally when I called the number to get info on location and hours, I was given the impression that there were going to be a slew of lawyers that specialized in evictions and the like.
Well, as soon as I sat down, I realized this was certainly NOT the case at all. The head lady spent just about the whole time dealing with a section 8 client and HER eviction issue. Felt like I had wasted my time, as I walked out of there with no new advice, info, direction, etc......
As a footnote- this WAS the evening session. Dont know what the day time sessions are like. BUT the receptionist shouldn't be telling callers that there will be all kinds of lawyers that run these classes.

I have never been treated so ignorantly in my life until I called these ppl for help. Not only did the woman talk to me so unprofessionally & beyond rude she also gave me the wrong information. I WILL NEVER REACH OUT TOP THESE PPL EVER AGAIN & I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THEM EITHER.

I encourage every tenant in Philadelphia to avail themselves of the information this organization has to offer. If only we had before renting an apartment above a bakery from a notorious South Philadelphia slumlord. Sometimes you don't get what you pay for. The apartment had no rental license and no certificate of rental suitability. The slumlord never repaired anything and the bathroom sink had no water pressure. It was infested with mice. The list goes on. Insult to injury, he kept our entire last month's rent and security with no required proof of repairs. I would have sued him but we moved out of state. I reported him and his slimy real estate agents to the AG. Then I received a threatening email from the agent! People in the rental business are not your friend and they think they are above the law. I wish we had known about TURN before doing business with this scum. Just their website alone has a wealth of information. Arm yourself with knowledge.

Had my faith in humanity restored at TURN. Though they may be hard to reach by phone, you won't regret paying them a visit (100 S Broad St #800). The staff are very helpful and compassionate, and the workshop at 12:30 is very informative. Even if you don't have problems at your current rental unit, I suggest paying them a visit just so you can learn about your tenant rights, should any problems arise.

Absolutely the rudest people! The representative just kept talking over me and did not listen to anything I was saying. As soon as I said one word, she started telling me all the things that I already knew. No chance at all to communicate anything! In addition, when I requested that she allow me to speak, she said she was hanging up on me. A classic case of an organization that does not hold any of their representatives to any kind of standard! Good luck if you ever have these Jokers representing you...
