I paid a fee and used the Washington Lawyer Referral system to be refereed to Mr. Jeffries for help with an insurance fraud issue. Boy do I feel like I deserve a refund. This guy is the absolute biggest waste of time and money I've ever encountered and I am appalled by the way he and his helper Carrie do business. He will rack up a ridiculous bill and accomplish nothing. Once after over a full month of calling and leaving messages to inquire about my case (because that's a thing you need to do with him) I finally got a hold of him but he told me he needed to pull my file to see what was going on. After pulling it and calling me back he told me that the judge my case was submitted in front of had retired and that he'd have to do it again. For the prices he's charging and the thousands of dollars I've paid him, I expected the "lawyer" to know who the heck was working across the street from him. How does that happen? He was comfortable wasting my time for years and avoiding my phone calls for over a month while I was calling multiple times a week just for him to tell me that the judge had retired and that these things happen. Judges leave and that is understandable but he expects me to believe he didn't realized that when that judge retired that nothing was going on with my case? Well that would just make him incompetent in addition to extremely lazy. This person will tell you he will help you, make you believe him, and let you down in every way an attorney possibly can. Then send an outrageous bill for his "time."

Mr. Jeffries attended all conferences and facilitated open and rational communication between us while we were working out our custody agreements keeping our children’s best interest in mind. We were able to sustain a professional dialogue with rational time limits and helped to make sure a fair agreement could be reached. He takes the time to explain the process with custody and you realize it’s a matter of time to work things out, and, it’s a long process dealing with the courts. Washington County Court of Common Pleas is much easier to deal with than Allegheny County, it’s a more relaxed atmosphere. Frankly, if I was to make a comparison, Washington County courts are like Mayberry where you’d expect Barney Fife. Allegheny is something you’d see on Law and Order where you’d expect Jennifer Lopez or some sleazy lawyer who works for the mob cutting back room deals for his cousin Vinny.

I’ve dealt with both county courts on a personal and professional basis. James is more of a laid back country lawyer, straight forward and decent, than a downtown guy who’s out to make a million dollars in a high profile case.

If you’re just trying to keep things easy, just trying to make things go as smooth as possible and there’s not a lot of tension between you and your ex, maybe you just made a mistake getting married too young or you just had too much happen in life and you’re able to amicably settle your differences but just need some basic guidance, James is your guy. Honestly, his approach is much more rational than a lot of people expect.

You expect a lot of drama with custody and divorce, but, James has the ability to cut through all of it and make things better in a calm way to keep you from having to go to trial he saves you money and assets in the long run. I would rather give him a few thousand dollars and keep the respect of my children and self-dignity than to have to go through a dragged out process that may bankrupt you both.

He’s just not does not have a vengeful personality which is good when you’re trying to get your life back on track and move on to something better.

I recommend him if you can settle things amicably and want to avoid the costly process of going to trial. If you think you need to be more cruel towards your ex, or, you like to waste money frivolously and send yourself into custody hell, go with some other firm like Cordell and Cordell who will force you to give them a huge retainer just to come up with the same results.

Horrible. Works against you. Very disrespectful and unprofessional. Called me names just because I was calling to check the status of a court date.Doesn't return calls or check on his clients. I wish I would of read prior reviews first. I never post so he must really be horrible. Public pretender for sure.

A great attorney, he has helped me with a divorce and is helping my mother with an issue over a contractor. He is affordable and is very upfront about fees. I was very fortunate to be referred to him.
