Bob was disengaged from the moment I met him. He was worried about collecting funds, assuring me that our case would at least drag out to 10+ hours due to the opposing attorney. I would report happenings and findings to Bob, who would neglect to follow up in regards to ANYTHING.
Bob was very kind and pleasant during our initial interaction. Bob told me he was a man of God, and he even bragged on the fact that he will never charge for any billing discrepancy conversation. He didn’t mention everything he WOULD charge for. His word goes out the window quite quick because while our inaugural meeting lasted 1hr 10min, I was certain I would only be billed for the hour. NEGATIVE. Bob actually billed me at 90 mins!
Bob also ensured me that his paralegals would tend to work when available. It would allow me to pay less for the same work. He would only handle the heavier tasks. With this case he tallied 14.2 hours, his paras totaled 10.5. Much of the work he allegedly performed could have been handled by a paralegal. And the work that the paralegals were performing (for instance, copying and pasting my answers to a preformatted template) took longer to accomplish than my original typing of the document. My answers barely changed whatsoever.
The total number of hours were off by a ridiculous amount of time on the final statement as well. Not only was the final statement never delivered, but I had to actually request it. That was months after finishing the mediation. Bob had already taken thousands from me, and he didn’t care if we never spoke again. He knew that I provided all of the hardwork in my case. He even stated it to me in our last meeting. He told me that I had won my case, and we could not have yielded a better outcome without my involvement.
Clearly, I’d have to be involved to some degree as it’s my case. But I spent a lot of hours keeping receipts, keeping tabs, tracking overnights, reading parenting guidelines, and creating a concise pre-mediation plan. All of the verbiage used was in my own words, the agreements made we construed by myself, and everything short of being called a “lawyer” was provided through myself. Mr. Arnold only haphazardly acted as a guide to point me in the right direction.
And that’s a good thing! He couldn’t keep his attention. His face would be buried in his phone, and “hang on, I have to take this” or “just bear with me here” while he’d tap on his iPhone’s screen with his guitar pickin’ nails. He did not like being challenged or wrong.
At my mediation, he actually asked the mediator if she’d listened to an album he made! That was his concern! This all occuring while we waited in her office for my ex and her attorney to leave first because Bob nor the other attorney wanted to see one another. And you best bet that I was charged for waiting inside her office with him. Not only charged, but the amount of time the bill states we were in mediation is over by 2 hours versus reality! He would not provide me a more itemized receipt after stating he would. It took another 2 months to hear from him, and that was only because I reached out. I simply wanted what was owed to me if his figures were off.
The best way to sum up this unorganization and provide substantial evidence of his incoherence would be to post screenshots of two separate billings I’ve been sent regarding the final amount due. The first was the original I received in the spring, and the second was delivered to me in August.
Bob requested I do an evaluation on him immediately after mediation ended. That was one of his legitimate concerns. He stated in that email the things most important to him:
He’s a good listener and fought for me… No.
He didn’t compromise my goals… But he did. I had specific goals to conquer, and he’d often want to take an alternate route.
That he was honest and fair in billing and prompt in returning calls… …. ….
And now you can find this review on Avvo, Google, Yelp, and Martindale.
I would recomend updating your website its to plain
After they close. Still to this day he is only a text away if I have any legal questions or need advise on anything. He was very affordable in comparison to most other attorneys I reached out to and was very flexible when it came to my appointments and payments. I would most def recommend Bob to anyone and if I ever needed an attorney again he would be the first one I called! Thanks Bob I appreciate you!!
Beware.
