What an arrogant and uncooperative attorney this guy is.. I came to him regarding a landlord-tenancy dispute that the week before he was amenable to taking on, as he does this for other local landlords and realtors. This guy sat there and didn't know what the definition of "common property" is in Illinois and ask me to explain to him what common property means. When I told him it means items attached to the landlord's premises that remain the property of the landlord (for example, carpeting: once installed and attached to the premises, the tenant can't just rip it out and take it with him. Dodd didn't seem to understand this legal concept.), he asked what I meant by "attached to the premises." When I told him "merchandise" and "shelves," etc., that have been physically attached to the walls of the building, he still seemed confused. He then asked me what merchandise was. Then he actually asked me what a SHELF is. I then asked him if these matters were beyond the scope of his practice, or if he just didn't want to represent me. He said that he "was far too busy over the next 10 days to take on a case like this." Really? The previous week when I told him that if this matter moved to a bench trial (which it has) that I would be retaining him as my attorney, and he seemed all for it and seemed to have the time and interest in doing so. Today, he suddenly doesn't know what "common property" means, or what "merchandise" or even what a "shelf" is. He was very unfriendly and uncooperative. Taking time to meet with him was a total waste of time; he offered no legal advice; and in less than 5 minutes suddenly had no time to take the case. I'll never use his so-called "services" again, and I would not advise others, if asked, to waste their time with this guy. He behaved like a total jerk.
