I was in a 4 car accident on I-25 about 4 years ago. I had written this review previously and cannot find it anywhere online anymore, so I am rewriting it to warn people in hopes that others don't have a similar awful legal experience, being represented by James Colgan. I was recommended to Ramos Law by a coworker and was assured my girlfriend and I would be well taken care of. Dr. Ramos seemed nice and sincere but after a short consultation with him, our case was passed off to one of his associates; Jim Colgan. Everything started off okay and he seemed like he would take good care of our case. After the first couple weeks things started going downhill quickly. Jim became very difficult to get in contact with and we were left in the dark for weeks at a time with no word from him on the status of our case. I received a ticket in the accident for following too closely and was sure to let his paralegal know about it when discussing the accident. I was told "Don't worry, we will take care of that." After a few months with little communication with Jim I received a letter from the Denver court system informing me that my license would be revoked and that there was a warrant out for my arrest for not appearing in court. I immediately began to freak out about my license potentially being revoked so I called Jim to ask what exactly was going on. When I finally got a hold of him I asked if he had taken care of the ticket from the accident, like his paralegal told me he would, he replied with "What ticket?" I was so disappointed that they had let this fall through the cracks, but was assured by Jim that everything would be fine, he would come with me to the police station to pay my $100 bond to get this whole situation handled. When I met him at the police station he barely said sorry for their mistake and just assured this would be no big deal once we pay the bond. The woman at the front desk of the Denver Police Department was brand new and was clearly confused on what she was doing. Instead of processing my bond and getting it taken care of, I was put into general intake where I was put out in the waiting area where I sat for hours until I was fingerprinted, made to change into a inmate jumpsuit and was thrown into a jail cell with a withdrawing heroin addict as a cell mate. Because of their incompetence I spent a miserable night in jail over a $100 bond...When I was finally released from jail the next day I was furious and immediately fired Jim Colgan from handling my case. This was literally the worst legal experience of my life and I could not imagine that someone with a law degree could be this lazy and incompetent. Not only was there hardly any communication from him, but he also waited MONTHS before interviewing the other drivers from the accident to get their testimonies. He was clearly looking to do as little amount of work possible, settle out of court and get a easy paycheck. I cant reiterate enough to STAY AWAY FROM THIS LAWYER, he is only concerned with his wallet.

My husband and I have both been police officers for over 25 years. We have certainly seen and investigated our share of injury accidents. In early 2018, our 2018 F150 was struck on the passenger side by a driver who ran a red light. Speeds were approximately 60 miles per hour. Ramos Law and the team members I worked with there were great. I was rear ended at high speed and needed help getting the insurance company responsible to pay fairly. I had a great experience with the Ramos law firm. I was in an accident and didn't think I was hurt so I didn't go to the hospital or report an injury to the insurance company. About a week after the accident my shoulder started to hurt but I waited 4 months to go to the doctor, work and family responsibly made it very difficult to get to the doctor. Found out I had a torn rotator cuff. I called several law firms and they all said they could not help, that I had waited to long. When I called Ramos law, they immediately went to work and took my case. Patrick and Viviana handle my case and keep me updated on everything. After they went to work for me, I was offered a good settlement and was very satisfied. After being told by other law firms that I was out of luck, the Ramos law firm and Viviana and Patrick really put them to shame. I am so happy that they took my case.

RUN THE OTHER WAY! COLLEEN CALANDRA = HORRIBLE REPRESENTATION. Ramon Law is a classic BAIT & SWITCH firm. I set a consultation with a lawyer named Colleen Calandra. When I arrived I was met by an intake subordinate instead yet still told I had to pay the same $300 legal fee. My gut told me to leave and come back when my actual attorney could meet but I reluctantly continued. I was extremely thorough in detailing my case. 3 weeks later I heard from Colleen with a 1 paragraph letter regarding my case and a bill asking for more money already before anything had even begun. Even that one paragraph contained misrepresentation of my case details and typos. Clearly she had not actually paid good attention to the information passed on to her. Fast forward another month and I received a settlement option that clearly favored my ex-employer (if not written entirely by them) and contained requirements that I specifically told her I would not accept. Instead of acting like a lawyer and at least giving me a heads up she acted like the agreement contained only what we had agreed to and said to sign it and send it back without ANY council provided in reviewing it. I rejected it and got yet another bill asking for more money. If you make the mistake of hiring this firm, at least make sure you don't get stuck with Colleen. She has absolutely no interest in providing even basic legal advice and dodges questions like an expert. You definitely will not get what you paid for and Colleen will demonstrate ZERO concern or apology for your dissatisfaction with her representation of your case. I've never encountered someone that lacks the ability to express any apology or remorse for unsatisfactory outcomes and representation. Even if you really believe you fought the good fight for your client, you owe it to them to diffuse and resolve amicably instead of acting like you just cashed their check and never gave them another thought or care. This truly was the exact experience I feared when picking a lawyer to "help" me resolve my legal dispute.

After working with Brian Hughen I realize it was a mistake to rely on this firm to take my case. I had a car accident with an injury to my back and Brian represented me but towards the end settlement he got very shady and very dishonest. During my last visit with him to sign the settlement papers, I questioned him on why he was keeping the same amount as me. If he really cared for his clients and I have a life long injury shouldn’t I be the one walking with more money to help with life treatment ? He said no and that those were his fees. I also told him I wanted a copy of the check the insurance had sent for my settlement and he said he would email me that as soon as he got it of course here I am a year later and no copy of such check was sent to me. I feel like he could have done a better job of communicating and not keep half my settlement. Because this approach shows no value for your client.
